The first thing you need to know is that while a clone counts against blind spots, if your clone dies, you die tooso make sure your character is painted and in the position you want your clone to be in. Once you have the location you want it, press the Q key and your character is duplicated exactly as you painted them and placed.

You can run away to the next location, move and repaint. You can have up to 3 characters in total. You can use the Q key after the cooldown period to create more clones.

If you don't like your place anymore or risk being caught by the hunter, X key will delete all your clones, so keep your finger ready on the keyboard to press it!

There are green diamonds at the bottom of the screen on your HUD that indicate how long it will take before you can make another clone. The timers are 30 seconds each. The left timer is for your first clone, the right timer is for your second.

General cloning tips in Meccha Chameleon

The cloning feature is a cool and fun way to add more hideouts and potentially collect some extra points, but there are a few things you might want to keep in mind before using this feature:

  • If you want people to be able to hide their clones and have time to make good spots, consider increasing the hunter wait time in the settings.

  • There is currently no setting available to turn off cloning. This is now a permanent option for all players and all modes.

  • If your clone is found, your main body is also found. Use the X key to prevent capture so you can still collect points.

  • You can't use X to delete your clones when you're in free camera mode, so have the 5 key ready quickly if you're watching.

Dual mode clones, explained

In dual mode, all players start hiding, and when the paint timer runs out, all players become hunters and try to find the other players. The change that clones make in dual mode is that there are more chances for players to find you if you have more clones.

Hunters still only need to find one version of each player. When one is found, the other two disappear from the player who found them. The last character you hide is the one marked in the answer check step. This applies to all modes. Once you're the hunter, you can't get rid of your clones in Double matches.
