The Naruto Franchise officially welcomes its best female character in 27 years

Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto franchise officially began on September 21, 1999, and has since established itself as one of the biggest anime and manga franchises of all time, rivaling even the likes of One Piece in many ways. While the story of Naruto is phenomenal and one that has been immortalized over the decades, it still has a few select flaws. That said, the Naruto franchise is currently expanding through its sequel series, specifically Boruto: Two Blue Vortexwho do everything they can to remedy the deficiencies.

One of the obvious problems with the original Naruto series was the handling of its female characters. By Borutothe writers do everything they can to remedy the problem by making Sarada Uchiha, its lead heroine, one of the most compelling characters in the entire series. Sarada has already received quite a lot of attention from the writers in Boruto: Two Blue Vortexand she is now officially at the helm of a brand new arc, the building blocks of which were set in the latest issue of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 35 on June 18, 2026. With the tremendous handling of this character by the creators, Boruto finally gives Naruto franchise's best female character to date.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has officially made Sarada Uchiha the best Naruto heroine

Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto the series features tons of incredible characters he's written over the years, but when it comes to female characters, there are only a handful that compare to their male counterparts. Even within the main team 7, who were the main characters of the series, the difference in character writing between Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura is quite large. Masashi Kishimoto always gave Naruto and Sasuke preferential treatment, while Sakura was left behind on many occasions. This is something that Mikio Ikemoto has fixed in the Boruto series.

While Boruto and Kawaki get their fair share of attention in Boruto series, Sarada is equally focused on and is always central to the most important plot points. If anything, enter Boruto: Two Blue VortexSarada Uchiha has received more focus than Kawaki and as much as the protagonist, Boruto Uzumaki, himself. In the last two arcs, Sarada Uchiha has been central to the vast majority of the events of the story, and in the new arc, which officially began in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 34 in V-jump Issue 7 May 20, 2026 Sarada Uchiha is once again a central character.

Boruto: Sarada, I want you to let them capture you. He will probably take you straight to their base. But don't worry, I'll fly right to you using the symbols I just gave you.

Sarada: I see, a reverse trap.

— Boruto and Sarada plan to attack Jura and Hidari, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #35

The latest edition of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 35 on June 18, 2026 confirmed that Sarada will be deeply involved in the arc focusing on Hidari and Jura, as she intends to have Code kidnap her so that Boruto and her can launch a powerful offensive from within.

New Boruto Arc makes Sarada Uchiha the star once again

New Boruto Arc Sarada Uchiha at the center

Sarada Uchiha has gotten quite a bit of attention in the new series so far, starting with the Land of Wind arc. There she battled the Shinju Ryu and properly awakened her Mangekyo Sharingan, utilizing Ohirome's ability to absolutely decimate the Shinju in the process. Since then, Sarada has been central to many exciting plot points, and in the Mamushi arc, she was once again in the thick of it, fighting one clone after another and decimating them with her Mangekyo Sharingan powers.

“It's a risky plan, so anything can happen. Just keep one thing in mind, Sarada, never lose hope. No matter what happens.” — Boruto Uzumaki hints at a dark plot for Sarada, Two Blue Vortex Chapter #35

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has also set up a storyline surrounding Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan degrading her eyesight, as she is now officially going blind and needs a cure for it. This ties into the new arc, where her resolve will be tested again when she allows Code to kidnap her and take her to Shinju's hideout. The new arc of Boruto will focus on Hidari, the clone of Sasuke, Sarada's own father. As such, this arc will have huge significance for her, as well as for Boruto Uzumaki. The two will be working together, and we absolutely can't wait to see her take the spotlight again. By fighting the likes of Hidari, Sarada intends to save her father while somehow mitigating the blindness that comes with the use of her Mangekyo Sharingan.

This level of importance was never given to Sakura Haruno in the original Naruto series, nor was it given to any other female character in Naruto. That's not to say that Naruto's female characters were all poorly written, but they never got the kind of treatment that Sarada has received in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. We can only hope that this treatment of both Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto continues in the coming chapters.

Sarada Uchiha is already lined up to succeed Naruto Uzumaki as Hokage of Konoha

While Sarada Uchiha is already given much of the limelight by the creators of Boruto series, we already know she's destined for great things based on her goal of becoming the next Hokage and succeeding Naruto Uzumaki. At some point in the future, Sarada will become Konoha's Hokage and in the process become the first Uchiha to claim this position. Sarada already carries the legacy of Sasuke Uchiha and her uncle Itachi Uchiha. In that sense, she has enormous importance as a character, and as such will gain even more limelight as the story continues.

“I've made up my mind. I want to follow in the footsteps of the Seventh Hokage and become Hokage of the village.” — Sarada Uchiha announces her dream, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter #11

Succeeding the Seventh Hokage is certainly not an easy task for anyone, but if there is any character that can do it, it is none other than Sarada Uchiha. We absolutely cannot wait for her to reach this position and show the ninja world how strong she really is. Until then, Sarada must continue to progress slowly, just like Boruto Uzumaki, Kawaki and Himawari Uzumaki, under the guidance of strong and experienced ninjas like Sakura, Sasuke and, of course, the Seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki.
