8 strongest versions of Super Saiyan 3, ranked

Super Saiyan 3 was the most powerful Saiyan transformation at the end of Dragon Ball Z. For years, SSJ3 was also the most powerful Saiyn form period in the canon timeline. It wouldn't be until Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods introduced Super Saiyan God that Super Saiyan 3 would be officially deposed. Even at the height of his power, however, Super Saiyan 3 had major drawbacks.

Between Ki drain issues and the fact that it never won a fight DBZSuper Saiyan 3 always felt like Toriyama was subverting the expectations of SSJ1 & 2. Dragon Ball Super, Dragon Ball DAIMAand Super Dragon Ball Heroes has done a lot of legwork to rehabilitate Super Saiyan 3's image and reputation. The strongest versions of Super Saiyan 3 have no drawbacks and are some of the most powerful forms in Dragon Ball multiverse, even competing god forms.

Super Saiyan 3 (Live)

Goku, Gotenks, Vegeta

Super Saiyan 3 is definitely a powerful transformation, but it suffers from huge issues that make the form less than ideal in an actual fight. When paired with a living body, Super Saiyan 3 quickly drains the user's Ki and stamina, something Goku learns the hard way during his final battle with Kid Buu in Dragon Ball Z.

The sheer power of Super Saiyan 3 is also too much for a Fusion to withstand, reducing Gotenk's time limit from half an hour to a paltry five minutes. Goku has gone on to refine Super Saiyan 3 at that time Dragon Ball Super starts, but the fact that he still prefers to use Super Saiyan 1 or Super Saiyan 2 to test his weaker opponents is proof that SSJ3 is simply not worth using in a living body.

Super Saiyan 3 (Death)

Goku

Super Saiyan 3 in a dead body is a whole other story. Goku first unlocked Super Saiyan 3 while training in the Other World, where he would never feel tired due to being dead. Because of this, Goku failed to realize the great strain that Super Saiyan 3 has on the body – which is simply not a problem if your body is dead.

The only downside to using Super Saiyan 3 in a dead body is that it reduces the user's time limit on Earth, but that assumes they ever revisit Earth at all. In the afterlife, Super Saiyan 3 (Dead) would have no drawbacks whatsoever, allowing Goku to harness ridiculous amounts of power without any drawbacks.

Super Saiyan 3 Villainous

Gotenks

IN Dragon Ball XenoverseMira and Towa can use Dark Magic to possess various fighters and give them a temporary villainous power. The Villainous form takes complete control of the victim, turning them into a mindless pawn, while giving them a massive increase in their power level.

Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks was already one of the strongest fighters in the Dragon Ball Zand he is even more powerful in his villainous state. The main draw against Super Saiyan 3 Villainous is that the user loses control of their body and minds, but the trade-off is newfound strength that simply surpasses anything normal Super Saiyan 3 can accomplish.

Ultra Vegeta 1

DAIMA Vegeta

In it Dragon Ball DAIMA timeline, Vegeta manages to unlock his own version of Super Saiyan 3 that has none of the drawbacks that Goku suffered at the end of Dragon Ball Z. While it took Goku seven long years to unlock Super Saiyan 3 (a form he never even mastered), it only takes Vegeta a year after the battle with Kid Buu to tap into his own version of SSJ3.

Ultra Vegeta 1 is Vegeta's interpretation of Super Saiyan 3, but unlike the regular version of SSJ3, there are no Ki or stamina issues at all. Ultra Vegeta manages to defeat the second form Tamagami, while proving strong enough to help fight Giant Gomah during Dragon Ball DAIMAfinal battle. Ultra Vegeta 1 is more or less a perfect version of Super Saiyan 3, but hints that Vegeta can take the form even further.

Dark Super Saiyan 3

Xeno Bardock

The Dark Dragon Ball Enhancement is a huge power buffer from Dark Shenron i Super Dragon Ball Heroes. Any character that has undergone a Dark Dragon Ball Enhancement becomes strong enough to compete with the gods. Xeno Bardock is already one of the strongest Saiyans in the Dragon Ballbut he becomes a genuine threat to his enemies in his Dark Dragon Ball Enhanced state i Super Dragon Ball Heroes.

By triggering Super Saiyan 3, Xeno Bardock unlocks Dark Super Saiyan 3. Dark Super Saiyan 3 Xeno Bardock is instantly stronger than Super Saiyan God Xeno Future Trunks. Not only that, Dark Super Saiyan 3 Xeno Bardock is powerful enough to fight both Jiren and Ultra Instinct Sign Goku. Dark Super Saiyan 3 has no drawbacks, simply offering Xeno Bardock godlike powers until he finally unlocks Dark Super Saiyan 4.

Legendary Super Saiyan 3

DBZ Broly

Legendary Super Saiyan 3 is an incredibly dangerous version of SSJ3 that combines Legendary Super Saiyan Ki with the base transformation. DBZ Broly ends up unlocking the Legendary Super Saiyan 3 in Dragon Ball Heroes and Dragon Ball Z: Dragon Battlers. Broly is an absolute monster in his legendary Super Saiyan 3 form, with more than enough power to destroy the strongest villains in Dragon Ball Z.

IN Dragon Ball HeroesLegendary Super Saiyan 3 Broly scales to Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta from Dragon Ball GT. It is also possible that he is actually stronger than the GT Saiyans. Legendary Super Saiyan 3 Broly is a Rank S fighter i Dragon Ball Fusionswhich puts him on par with Golden Frieza from Resurrection F and some of the strongest Saiyan Fusions, like Barlot.

Super Saiyan Rose 3

Goku black

Super Saiyan Rosé is a transformation exclusive to Goku Black i Dragon Ball Super. Since Goku Black is actually Zamasu in Goku's body, he has access to Saiyan Ki, Supreme Kai Ki, and God Ki. When all of these Ki types are mixed when Goku Black becomes Super Saiyan Blue, he instead triggers Super Saiyan Rosé, a mutated version of SSB that far surpasses Goku and Vegeta's forms. In an alternate timeline where Fu saves Goku Black's life, Black becomes the Crimson Masked Saiyan and becomes even stronger.

The Crimson-Masked Saiyan is a version of Goku Black who ends up traveling in the multiverse to kill as many Gokus as possible. When he punches in CC Goku Super Dragon Ball Heroesthe Crimson Masked Saiyan has become absurdly powerful. During his fights, the Crimson-masked Saiyan learns how to evolve Super Saiyan Rosé and eventually unlocks Super Saiyan Rosé 3. SSR3 is so strong that Crimson can only be defeated by a combined effort from CC Goku and CC Vegeta in their strongest forms. Even then, the Crimson Masked Saiyan is only pushing Super Saiyan Rosé 3 to tap into his full power.

Super Saiyan 3 Full Power

Cumber

Super Saiyan 3 Full Power is the ultimate version of SSJ3, and by far the most powerful Super Saiyan 3 variant. A transformation exclusive to the Ancient Saiyan Cumber i Super Dragon Ball HeroesSuper Saiyan 3 Full Power basically has no flaws. SSJ3FP raises Cumber's power level to astronomical heights, even making him stronger than literal gods. No other version of Super Saiayn 3 is as utterly dangerous as its Full Power state.

Super Saiyan 3 Full Power Cumber is stronger than Destroyer Form Toppo, Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Jiren. In the New-Space Time War Saga from Super Dragon Ball HeroesSuper Saiyan 3 Full Power Cumber is so powerful that CC Goku needs to use Perfected Ultra Instinct to fight him, all while CC Vegeta helps him in Berserk Super Saiyan Blue (Controlled). Super Saiyan 3 Full Power also uses Cumber's Evil Aura to make him even more dangerous.
