Unlike many of the other modern entries and remakes, you actually get to choose between first- and third-person gameplay, the former bringing a much more intense and intimate gameplay style that makes the scares land harder, and the action feel grittier than ever.

The dual story between Grace and Leon is so well executed, and it never felt like I was lingering with a character for too long, always between pure fear and survival horror at the perfect moment. I did my first playthrough in third person, but after revisiting from the other point of view, I actually prefer the latter, and compared to the competition in the wider genre, there's pretty much no horror game that can hold a candle to it, both in 2026 and before.
