State Of Decay 3 Release Year Revealed

State of Decay 3 made a not-so-surprising appearance at tonight's Xbox Games Showcase with a packed gameplay trailer that revealed a planned 2027 release.

For a while, State of Decay 3 was one of the biggest examples of Xbox announcing a game way too early and then going completely radio silent on it. Turns out there was a good reason for that, as the CGI trailer the game was revealed with was put together long before the game really began development.

The very slow wait for news on State of Decay 3 thankfully changed a few months ago when Undead Labs announced that a closed alpha playtest was coming soon, indicating that the team was finally ready to show more. That made it seem very likely that it would appear at tonight's Xbox Games Showcase, and that's exactly what happened.

The new gameplay trailer for State of Decay 3 appeared early in the showcase, giving us our best look yet at its much more polished and action-focused gameplay. Unlike previous screenings for State of Decay, it actually had some pretty big news to share, as it's slated for release sometime in 2027.

I didn't think I'd have to keep an eye on whether or not Xbox games are coming to PlayStation anymore, but it was confirmed at the end of the trailer that State of Decay 3 will launch on PlayStation. At least it suggests so some Xbox games will be coming to other platforms in the future, although Gears is not, for some reason.
