Magic: The Gatherings upcoming Marvel crossover will break a huge record for the franchise, with the highest number of unique cards in the history of the card game. The expansion will span more than 600 unique cards across Magic: The Gathering's many different products.
Wizards of the Coast has already given fans plenty of reasons to be excited about the beloved card game's latest Marvel collaboration. Magic: The Gatheringpp Marvel Super Heroes expansion will feature a host of the most popular superheroes from throughout comic book history, including the Avengers, Fantastic Four and more. Magic has also revealed the biggest hunting card in the set, with three different versions of The Mind Stone for fans to acquire. Now, Magicis new Marvel Super Heroes expansion will set a new record for the card game.

Magic: The Gatheringpp Marvel Super Heroes expansion breaks the long-standing game record for most unique cards in a new set. Crossover will introduce more than 600 mechanically unique cards to the game, surpassing the feat previously set by The Lord of the Rings crossover. The new cards will be split between the main set, four pre-constructed Commander Decks, and a host of side products, including Jumpstart Packs, Welcome Decks, and Scene Boxes. The Marvel Super Heroes set will officially be released on June 26th, with pre-releases for the set starting on June 19th.

In addition to the assortment of mechanically unique cards included in Marvel's crossover, Wizards of the Coast has teased plenty of special edition new cards. Magic will bring back comic-book-style showcase treatments, first introduced in 2025's Spider-Man crossover, which already showcase fantastic versions of cards like World War Hulk and The Coming of Galactus. The superhero-themed set will also add special cards with artwork inspired by the covers of various Marvel series, including characters such as Doctor Doom, Namor the Sub-Mariner and Captain America.
The plethora of Marvel cards comes with a variety of changes and new mechanics as well. Wizards of the Coast has teased several new keywords and abilities being added to the game Marvel Super Heroes sets, allowing players to buff their heroes with Power-Ups or use Teamwork to deliver more powerful effects. Wizards of the Coast has confirmed at least one new card subtype, Plans, coming with the Marvel crossover, and is debuting several new Plan Enchantment cards. The Marvel set will also bring back several mechanics and keywords used in the 2025s Spider-Man crossover, adding more cards to support hero decks and bringing back the Connive mechanic for villains.

Magic: The Gathering fans should have a lot to be excited about with the launch of their newest Marvel crossover. Wizards of the Coast previously revealed a new player-focused Avengers Academy event for the expansion, which aims to provide an easy way for Marvel fans to learn how to play Magic. The Marvel Super Heroes crossover will also provide plenty of incentive for collectors, debuting comprehensive Collector's versions of the four Marvel Commander Decks.
