Nintendo has issued a warning alerting players to a game-breaking bug found in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. The bug remains unfixed at the time of writing, so players off Yoshi and the Mysterious Book should take care to avoid the sequence of steps that triggers the problem.
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book has received generally positive reviews, giving players a relaxed experience to enjoy on the Nintendo Switch 2. In this game, Yoshi meets Mr. E, a sentient encyclopedia that fell from the sky on the island the Yoshis live on. Mr. E asks for Yoshi's help in recovering information about mysterious creatures that he lost last fall, which leads to Yoshi literally jumping into Mr. E's pages.

Nintendo warns of game-breaking bug in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book
Nintendo of Japan sent a message to players that they had received many messages from players saying that they had encountered a significant bug in the game, and Nintendo has confirmed the results. Nintendo states that the bug begins in Chapter Four. If players unlock the Index feature and skip Mr. E's explanation, the error can occur whenever players start Bewilder Bird research, make no discoveries, and then return to the Index. After this point, players will not be able to continue and will not be able to complete the game. Nintendo is currently working on a patch to fix the issue. Once that's done, the company will also advise players currently affected by the bug on what to do next.

In general, Nintendo is pretty quick to issue patches to fix major bugs like these, so players shouldn't have to worry about being stuck much longer. But it's probably pretty annoying for those who stumbled into this particular bug before the warning expired. Players who are frustrated with not being able to progress in the game may want to consider creating a secondary user profile and starting a new game under it. Although this method will involve replaying part of the game, players will be able to continue enjoying the title without having to wait for the patch. However, it's likely that this bug hasn't affected many players, given the specific steps to trigger the bug, and because it took about a week from launch for Nintendo to acknowledge the problem.
Unfortunately, this isn't the first time a major Nintendo game has had problems on the new console. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players discovered that the game would disconnect players who entered matches under a specific set of circumstances involving Mii Fighters and cross-play between the original Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, which Nintendo and Bandai attempted to fix. In the meantime, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darknessa Nintendo Switch Online GameCube offering, experienced frequent crashes on the Nintendo Switch 2, sometimes costing players quite a bit of progress in the process. Both of these issues have since been fixed, thankfully.
