It's a bad time to be a cheater Marvel Rivals, as NetEase has just cracked down on annoying exploiters with a massive ban wave, with the company threatening to take stronger action against those caught playing unfairly in the future. Marvel Rivals' competitive privacy has been an issue in the community this season, as its anti-cheat is allegedly fairly easy to bypass, leading to potential hacking throughout the game.
NetEase Games launched Season 8 of Marvel Rivals on May 15, 2026, featuring Devil Dinosaur and Cyclops as new playable heroes, along with brand new cosmetics and a new battle pass. While Marvel Rivals has had a strong player base since its debut in 2024, the game's anti-cheat has been a source of controversy since its release due to its core-level access to a user's PC. Season 8, in particular, has seen increased scrutiny of the game's security. Notable Twitch streamer Jay3OW recently claimed that Marvel Rivals anti-cheat feature can apparently be “deleted” without much consequence afterwards. So far, these claims have not been verified, but it appears that NetEase is now taking major steps to address cheating in Marvel Rivals regardless.

Overwatch just handed Marvel Rivals a win on a silver platter
Despite Marvel Rivals being dominated by Overwatch lately, Blizzard's latest fumble could be just what NetEase needs to get back into the fight.
NetEase issues a wave of bans on Marvel rivals and threatens severe penalties for repeat offenders
NetEase has issued a large wave of bans in Marvel Rivalspublicly lists 504 players who were found exploiting the game with cheats, utilities or client manipulation. The studio's official blog post states that all of these players have been permabanned Marvel Rivalpp after an investigation into in-game cheating, and further states that any repeat offenders may be subject to account bans, IP bans, or even entire device bans. The team says, “Maintaining a fair and honorable arena is our primary directive. We continuously combat cheating, scripting, and illegal techniques through multi-layered anti-cheating monitoring, abnormal behavior detection, historical data review, and manual verification.” The Marvel Rivals the team signs off the blog post by quashing rumors that fraudulent players have “erased” the game's anti-cheat, saying that these claims are “completely false” and that NetEase's internal anti-cheat cannot be disabled independently of the game.

A quick look at this wave of bans too Marvel Rivals tells an interesting story. Most of the players recently suspended never even reached Bronze or Silver, the two lowest ranks in the Marvel Rivals PvP. Whether or not these accounts were created to avoid bans on their main accounts is unknown, but it sure would be kind of funny for these cheaters to get banned for using exploits without ever reaching the highest levels of the game. Only a handful of players suspended in this wave were among the ranks of One Above All or Grandmaster.
Fans online have celebrated this spree of bans, but feel that NetEase Games could do a little more to do Marvel Rivals a better experience. The community still wants tougher punishments for players who are blatantly toxic over text or voice chat, and is still frustrated with smurfs and throwers who don't get the same ban treatment as cheaters, while they do Marvel Rivals a worse experience overall. How NetEase plans to deal with these minor breaches in the future remains to be seen. Marvel Rivals' second best competitor, Monitoringhave similarly struggled with these issues for a decade now.
