Fans eager for the next entry in Kingdom Come: Deliverance franchise won't have to wait too long, as Warhorse Studios has announced that the next game in the series could launch as soon as next year. The future of Kingdom Come: Deliverance series have been in question ever since rumors began circulating about Warhorse Studios' next project.
Blending a dense, historically accurate open world with a fun cast of characters and intricate game mechanics, Kingdom Come: Deliverance has been a highly acclaimed RPG since its release in 2018. Most recently, Warhorse Studios launched Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 in early 2025, built on everything the first game did and made it even better while addressing the main complaints fans had about the original. Warhorse's work paid off as Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 launched to critical acclaim and was a forerunner in Game of the Year discussions, right next door Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. A year later, some rumors started circulating that Warhorse was developing a game set in The Lord of the Rings universe, which Warhorse itself confirmed during a developer livestream on May 21, 2026.

Warhorse Studios announces release window for next Kingdom Come game
During that stream, the development studio also announced that a new game is set in the Kingdom Come: Deliverance franchise is on the way, making fans want more information about when it's released and what it's about. Now the studio is clarifying the statements made during the May livestream, as Warhorse Studio's Head of Communications Tobias Stolz-Zwilling and Community Manager Tom Gray went live to confirm that the next game in Kingdom Come series will be an open world RPG, and should be released as soon as fiscal year 2027. That should place the game's potential release window between April 2027 and March 2028.

Details of what the next post in Kingdom Come series will look like, and if its scale is the same as the previous two Kingdom Come entries, are still under wraps; But Stolz-Zwilling stated that Prokop Jirsa (lead designer and new creative director at Warhorse) is leading the project. At the same time, design director Viktor Bocan is responsible for the Midgard game after being appointed Creative Director at the studio after working with both KCD project. Warhorse Studios has been quick to assure fans that, although it now has The Lord of the Rings IP, Kingdom Come: Deliverance remains a priority for the studio.
Stolz-Zwilling has said, “We're still continuing to expand the universe by Kingdom Come… Don't forget that Kingdom Come: Deliverance always has been and still is and always will be an absolute passion project here at the studio.” Recent developments at the studio seem to be proving to be as well. Along with the announcement of a third game in the series, Warhorse has announced that a Kingdom Come: Deliverance The film is in the works, with former director Daniel Vávra leaving game development entirely to work on it.
