Websites like WebMD roughly define mob mentality as a psychological phenomenon where individuals adopt the behaviors, emotions, and beliefs of the larger group with abandon for rationality or personal morals, often resulting in destructive or erratic behavior. Historically, mob mentality is something tracked as an in-person event, but it clearly works on the internet as well. One visit to Grand Theft Auto 6‘s subreddit reveals this to be true if, within such confines, to be relatively harmless. Hopeful fans have done everything from tracking the stars to determine the next trailer’s release date to figuring out which sunscreen is being used in GTA 6 (most of which is in pure fun and good faith).
Luckily, I am here to tell you when the next trailer will be, but first, let’s take a step back. On May 12, Game Informer revealed its next Magazine Cover to be Blood of Dawnwalker—my most anticipated game of 2026; yes, even more than GTA 6. No one, and I mean no one, said it would be GTA 6, yet the entire internet (mob mentality) decided it would be. Game Informer did basic marketing for it, but the internet decided that was a tease for GTA 6. Game Informer never said it would be GTA 6, but the internet decided the rational thing was for GI to say it wasn’t GTA 6. The pseudologic stopped there.

The GTA 6 Story Length Praised by Gamers
GTA 6’s story length is a hot topic among gamers—some players want an almost endless experience, and others claim it needs to earn its length.
Internet Whips Internet Into Frenzy Over What the Internet Told the Internet
I can’t claim any insider knowledge of how Game Informer covers work, but I would guess any business agreements would entail…saying nothing at all…about what the cover is…until…they reveal…the cover…which precludes…out of caution…not…saying…what..it..isn’t, ya feel me? And even if they could have, and even if folks want to claim it was on Game Informer to not “lean into it,” the reality is: this is but one of many cases of internet mob mentality. The Internet decided something was happening against all rational thought and became angry, negatively impacting the lives of everyone at Game Informer, over nothing. It certainly isn’t positive for people to be angry over nothing.

They’re not going to tell you that you are wrong, but I am. Maybe they think it, maybe they don’t, I’ve spoken to no one there in a hot minute—but I highly doubt that they intentionally wanted to connect their cover to GTA 6 when it was not, in fact, GTA 6. They had an agreement, they honored it, and they brought new information on a game you should all be excited about. It’s literally from former developers of The Witcher 3??? GameRant readers rated both it and Cyberpunk 2077 in the top 10 games of all time, with not a single GTA game being there, so dear readers, that’s cool. I’m not talking to you in terms of this article’s intent.
Anyway, I know you’re probably angry to have read through the tirade, and I have yet to deliver on the information promised by the headline. Here’s the thing. I don’t think Game Informer honestly intended to ragebait anyone; the thing is, as a man who has had anger management problems for years, I can tell you that this mob mentality, angry internet nonsense starts entirely in the house. I am the kettle calling the pot black. Game Informer was not at fault. If you feel baited into rage because of this, it’s because you feel rage to begin with. That’s on you. Ragebait is ironic because, sure, it can be intentional, but people will cry ragebait when they are just…angry. So.
GTA 6 TRAILER!!!!! *Shocked Pikachu Face*
You’ve probably already figured this out. When Game Informer revealed its cover, it was not ragebaiting you—you just want to be angry. Yes, sooner or later, you will learn more about GTA 6. That was not May 12. Take-Two CEO Zelnick has already said GTA 6 marketing will begin soon, and soon is a relative term. But honestly, I wish it wouldn’t. The internet has already convinced itself the game is worth more than anything else in the world, so like, why waste money marketing it? The internet has already decided. Surprise-Shadow drop the game early during Game Informer’s June Magazine Cover reveal. Boom. Save money, make money.
You’ve probably already figured this out. When I wrote this headline, I was ragebaiting you. Not my colleagues. Not GameRant. Not Game Informer. Not Rockstar, not Take-Two, not nobody but me, a hick from Alabama, a nobody. But I do have some information for you. Here are all the possible dates GTA 6 Trailer 3 could release:

Are you still here? Thank god, my arm hurts. Know that the laziest writers in the accursed year 2026 would have probably just asked ChatGPT to spit out every day between today and November 19, but I am not a lazy writer nor do I accept the LordGPT. I wrote that list out by hand, and my right arm still hurts from the repeated presses of enter back to back to back. You’ll note I included the release because, heck, maybe Trailer 3 is the Accolades Trailer at launch.
It can happen anytime. No one on the internet is going to know. That’s the thing, that’s when the trailer will drop. Whenever Rockstar and Take-Two decide to drop it, and stirring yourself up into a frenzy, lashing out at a magazine that has served gaming for 30 years through good times and bad, and indulgemaxxing yourmaxxing ragemaxxing is not going to bring the trailer any sooner.
In April, I asked a colleague named Josh (and if you checked my byline, I do mean another Josh, I am not joshing you) to write a PSA to not harass GTA 6 devs. I guess let’s expand that, huh? Let’s not harass anyone and just calm it down a smidge, mmkay pumpkin? And if something happens that you don’t like, especially as it causes harm to no one, maybe just ya know. breathe.
I’m not looking forward to the nuclear fallout of the internet if GTA 6 is delayed again. Even if it needed it, I don’t think Rockstar could do it. The internet would literally explode. That’s not healthy. Calm down. See Paragraph 7, Sentence 2.
