Classroom of the Elite Season 4 (Youjitsu season 4) once again delivers a great season with interesting episodes and a plot that slowly builds up the tension for the special test that will take place at the end of the first semester. While the animation is not as refined as a series like One Pieceit's overall pretty decent and nice (at least for now).
The sixth episode of the new season is more like a bridge to the upcoming events, as classes and students prepare for the exam. For this reason, the episode may feel a bit slow for some, but sometimes a slower pace is needed to develop the plot.

Preparing for the Desert Island Special Test
The special test introduced at the end of Episode 5 is still months away, but some rules have already been revealed. Students can form small groups and small groups can form larger groups (up to six members). There are some rules for how groups should be formed, including the proportion of male and female students in certain circumstances.
Pupils in different classes can be in the same group, as long as they are all in the same year. However, cross-class groups will split potential points earned between classes, so while it may be better to join a group of students from “better” classes individually to reduce risk, it may also be worse for classes with fewer points. Horikita still seems unsure of what strategy would be best to follow in this case, but she is considering the idea of forming an alliance with other classes. Although a risky move, this could allow a three-class alliance against Class A, which would put the top class at serious risk.

However, Horikita believes that Class A will make a move to prevent it (and she's right, as Sakayanagi suggests an alliance with Ichinose to prevent the three classes from sabotaging Class A). Waiting to see how the other class representatives will react, Horikita asks Class D not to group with anyone just yet. In fact, she seems to have little interest in forming a block against Class A at all.
The real risks of the particular test
The biggest risk in “Desert Island Survival Game Special Test” is deportation. According to the rules, students in the bottom five groups will suffer a penalty and be expelled. They could be saved with points, but Horikita wants to avoid a situation where many students from Class D are in the bottom groups, because their class points are not enough to save them all. Additionally, if all members of a group (or a student taking the test alone) are unable to continue the test and drop out, they will suffer a penalty leading to expulsion.
Despite Horikita's instructions, a student from Class D joined a group with two members of Class B (but after openly talking about it with his classmates). The problem is that the student in question is Satsuki Shinohara, the girl Kanji Ike has fallen for. While Satsuki seems to reciprocate Kanji's feelings, they haven't talked about it with each other. Also, the person who invited Satsuki to join their group was Kyogo Kamiya, a guy from Class B who apparently wants to confess his feelings for her during the test. While this wouldn't normally be a big problem in itself, Ayanokoji and Horikita are a little worried that the love triangle might undermine Ike's performance during the test.

As for Ayanokoji, he has decided to take the exam alone. Probably this is the best strategy for him since the second special test, the one where first years will score if they get Ayanokoji expelled (introduced in the first four episodes of the new season), will last until the end of the first semester. In addition, a few students are granted cards via the School App that can help or complicate their situation in the test. Ayanokoji received the “Trial Card”, which increases class points earned by 50%, but would give his group a penalty if they are not in the top 30%. He seems confident that he can take first place, though (no wonder he's often called the smartest character in anime history). Still, he has yet to discover who the White Room student is among the first years.
What to expect next in this season
The survival game will take place at the end of July. Given that the season will cover the first semester, this suggests that the season will end with the results of this test. This episode was more like a prelude to the excitement that we will see during the test. Since there are still many groups to form, the next episode will likely still focus on the preparations for the exam, especially after Horikita establishes the best way to save the Class D students from expulsion. Despite being the continuation of the story, the fourth season is a good starting point for the franchise.

Classroom of the Elite Season 4 is a weekly series, and the next episode will be released on April 22, 2026, barring sudden changes. The anime streams on Crunchyroll in most regions and territories where the service is available, but may also be available on other regional services. Currently, Crunchyroll only adds subbed episodes, but an English dub has already been confirmed (as well as dubs in other languages).
