Great RPGs with upcoming DLCs

RPGs have some of the largest file sizes of any genre in the gaming world, so when another DLC drop comes around, it's always nice to have it installed and ready to go at a moment's notice. There's nothing worse than seeing a new release for a game, only to realize the file size is huge, meaning there's a big old download between the player and all the fresh content.

When it comes to upcoming DLCs, there are plenty of games with their own packs, updates, and big patches waiting around the corner, meaning fans will want to wait to free up hard drive space just a little longer. Not everything is set in stone yet, and there are even rumors of games that The Witcher 3 is getting some post-launch love, but either way, it's best to play it safe and look ahead to avoid embarrassing wait times down the road.

Diablo 4 – Lord of Hatred

A whole new kind of hell

ARPG fans rejoice that there is yet another Diablo 4 DLC will be released very soon, with Lord of Hate positioned as less of a traditional expansion and more of a structural reset for the entire game. An all-new campaign centered on Mephisto, it looks to continue the Age of Hatred arc rather than a standalone add-on, introducing additional regions along with plenty of new changes to the progression system, such as skill tree overhauls and a reworked endgame.

Alongside the system-related additions, players get to try out two new classes, Paladin and Warlock, giving them another reason to start over and experience the game from a completely different perspective. What makes the DLC so exciting is how it attempts to address many of the base game's previously painful issues. Targeting the weaknesses and reshaping the game around replayability ensures players can continue to grind and enjoy playing for much longer, which also means it's a perfect time for newcomers to jump in for the first time too.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl – Cost Of Hope

Cost of Hope is a full-scale narrative expansion rather than a side-sense built around a new expedition into the zone with plenty of new horrors to tackle. Alongside the base game, players now get to step inside the Chornobyl nuclear power plant itself and delve deeper into the mysteries that lie beneath the surface in a more personal way than ever before.

But it's not all doom and gloom, as players will also have several new weapons and gear to use against the underground nightmares, adding to an already widespread arsenal. At the end of the day, choice remains central, and it's up to the player to decide which side they want to follow and what kind of path they want to take in this apocalyptic world.

The Outer Worlds 2

Content just around the corner

It wasn't long ago that players found themselves planet-hopping again, but thankfully, the fun of it The Outer Worlds 2 no need to stop with the base game. The Rift investigation may have dominated the main story, but it's clear there's a lot more story to tell, and Obsidian has decided there's actually enough substance there to release two full story expansions in the coming months.

Things are being kept pretty quiet so far, but that doesn't mean players haven't started their wishlists and speculations about what comes next in the intergalactic story. An expansion of the conflict, new faction dynamics, and a leveling up are just a few things that could make the DLC cases hit really hard, hopefully pushing players over to a potential third installment in one of the RPG genre's most promising new IPs.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok

From new stories to completely distinct locations

Infinite Ragnarök builds directly on Relink's core strengths, expanding the scope of the main story and pushing the story to new ground. The end of time is heralded, and the world is thrown into a state of chaos, forcing players to face even greater challenges, both alone and with a group of friends.

From a systems perspective, players can look forward to new summoning mechanics and deeper build customization, allowing them to become even more powerful to take on the additional boss levels that await them in the endgame. There's even a new solo mode, The Conflux, which introduces extra challenges designed to extend long-term engagement, turning the game into a more vibrant product that will keep players invested long after the actual campaign ends.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 – Loose Cannon/The Flower & the Flame

A year of content on the way

After two decades of waiting, Bloodlines 2 has finally been released, and it looks like gamers won't have to wait long to sink their teeth into some more vampire content. The base game has received its fair share of praise and criticism, and specifically for the former, one of the biggest things many players cite is just wanting more stories and characters to play as.

Thankfully, 2026 gives them exactly what they want: Loose cannon and The flower & the flametwo new stories with two new central characters at the helm. With these additions, the world expands, meaning players will experience the city from multiple perspectives, each with their own take on power, loyalty and control, adding depth and returning to the tonal roots of the cult classic franchise.
