Once a body arrives in the graveyard, you have it a limited time to treat the body for burial. Corpses come to 100 percent freshness, and will rapidly decomposes on exposure to the elements.
Pick up the body and take it in the mortuary. Place it on the preparation site to begin the autopsy. As you unlock more tech you will be able to unlock more parts to remove and ways to slow down the degradation.

Surgeon's mistakes happen randomly and is added to the body, although it cannot be removed. This lowers the quality of the body in general.
For every tenth percent that a body loses in freshness, a sickly green skull will be displayed. These bodies cannot be resurrected and will have a generally degraded quality. To stop bodies from decomposingyou must either place them on a pallet to slow down decomposition or use injections to reverse or completely stop the degradation process.
How to dispose of a body
There are several ways you can dispose of a body after an autopsy. For starters, you can bury it in the cemetery and decorate the grounds to increase the graveyard rating. This is the default disposal method, but you can e.geventually unlock cremation to burn the remains to ashes on a funeral pyre.
Second, you can reanimate a corpse to work as a servant in the cemetery. Take the corpse to a resurrection table and create a zombie. You don't get a certificate for this, but you get free labor around the cemetery. This is only available in the Breaking Dead DLC.
Finally, when all else fails, you just might dump the body in the river. This is a quick way to dispose, but it is a financial loss for you. There is no certificate to sell, so be sure to take the parts you need from the body before you dump it. This is really just perfect if you fail the autopsy beyond the limit to save.
