My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi returns with new Toga art

My Hero Academia has become one of the most iconic shonen manga and anime series of the past decade. The creator behind this masterpiece is none other than the talented Kohei Horikoshi. Horikoshi's manga ended in 2024, but even so, he makes sure to engage with his fan base from time to time by showcasing incredible new illustrations. Most recently, Horikoshi made a return with an illustration of Himiko Toga, a fan-favorite member of the League of Villains, in celebration of the series' 10-year anime anniversary. Fans are hoping for more such contributions from this talented creator, especially with a full-fledged manga.

The My Hero Academia anime series just turned ten years old, and that's a huge milestone for it to reach. The anime was originally released on April 3, 2016. For such a big occasion, fans were excited to see if creator Horikoshi would release anything new. Thankfully, the talented mangaka didn't forget and immediately went on to reveal a brand new illustration on her X (@horikoshiko) platform.

“Sorry for the late reply, but Happy New Year! Happy 10th anniversary of the anime! Awesome! This is about the blood dress and Ga-chan that I wrote as a way to kill time.” —Kohei Horikoshi

This illustration features an all-new, never-before-seen design for Himiko Toga, a core member of the League of Villains. This new design elevates Toga's character and highlights her blood-related quirk. In fact, this design was so impressive that many fans wished it had been used at some point in the manga. However, such a complicated design would have been nearly impossible to manage on a weekly basis, and Horikoshi was already overworked and on a tight schedule.

Break down the evolution of the League Of Villains icon

my hero academia league of villains Evolution

The League of Villains has become one of the most iconic antagonist groups in anime. This group made their introduction very early in My Hero Academia with the appearance of their leader, Shigaraki. But he was not the only worthy member of this group. Along with him was Himiko Toga, another incredibly compelling character. Toga's storyline focused on romance and accepting her true self, something her family and supposed loved ones never gave her.

Her story was unfortunate, as her descent into villainy could easily have been avoided. At least Toga was given a brilliant ending by Horikoshi, with Ochaco Uraraka accepting her for who she was before she died in the final war.

My Hero Academia's anime adaptation ended in 2025, and its final arc ended in season 8. That being said, the anime isn't technically finished yet. The franchise still has one episode left, coming next month.. The episode is called “MORE”, marked with a release date of May 2, 2026.

Fans are extremely excited about this release and many would be happy to know that the core member of the League of Villains, Himiko Toga, will be deeply involved in it. Based on everything known, the special episode will cover the future events of My Hero Academia from manga chapter 431, where all the characters are aged and active as Pro Heroes. Although Toga has already died at this point, her character will be brought up again through Ochaco Uraraka, who developed a strong bond with her throughout the story and especially in the final battle.

Coming over to Kohei Horikoshi, fans are dying to see him return to Weekly Shonen Jump again, especially after the release of the new illustration. Horikoshi has proven to be one of the greatest artists to ever work in Weekly Shonen Jump, so his departure will only be temporary.

At the moment, there are no reports of Horikoshi returning to the paper anytime soon. However, he has previously said that he would like to create a new manga. In his last update, he clarified that he was in the process of handling designs for his new story, but nothing major has been revealed since then. It's definitely a possibility to see him make a comeback in the next few years.
