Xbox Game Pass adds Iconic RPG as its second game in April 2026

Final Fantasy 4 has formally joined Xbox Game Pass library and is now available in most membership levels. This is the second title to land on the subscription service in April 2026 and the 54th Xbox Game Pass addition since the start of the year.

In the first quarter of 2026, Microsoft's subscription service has consistently added Final Fantasy game, with a monthly installment. Thus, it cycled through the first three entries of Square Enix's Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection, originally released in April 2023 to critical acclaim. The most recent of these arrivals occurred on March 3, then Final Fantasy 3 Pixel Remaster joined Xbox Game Pass.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers can stream even more of their own games now

Xbox Game Pass is once again expanding its range of owned games that users can stream, with the service now supporting nearly 3,000 titles.

Xbox Game Pass adds its fourth Final Fantasy game in four months

The suite has now officially continued Final Fantasy 4which was added to Xbox Game Pass on April 7. The remaster of the 1991 JRPG is now playable on three tiers of the service: Premium, Ultimate and PC Game Pass. It comes as the second catalog addition of the month and debuts shortly after Barbie horse trails joined Xbox Game Pass on April 2nd.

Among the fans, Final Fantasy 4 is generally higher than its three main predecessors. That reputation is due in no small part to the game's influence, with the 1991 title introducing many series novelties, including the Active Time Battle system, story-driven characters instead of player-created blank sheets, party rotation as a narrative device, and a love story. Final Fantasy 4 also helped cement Nobuo Uematsu's status as one of the leading composers in JRPGs. The game marked the first time he was able to work with fuller, warmer and more orchestral sample-based sounds rather than simpler waveform-based chiptunes, made possible by the jump from the NES to the much more powerful SNES.

As usual, the upcoming Wave 1 roadmap should include the full list of titles that will be leaving the service by the middle of the month. However, a recent update to the Xbox app appears to have already revealed some, and possibly all, of these departures: Livid, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, My Little Pony: A Zephyr Heights Mystery, Terra Invictaand the highly publicized removal of the group, Grand Theft Auto 5.
