Starfield on PS5 will have some unique features that take advantage of the DualSense Controller, such as adaptive triggers and touchpad menu navigation. Also playing Starfield on a PS5 Pro gives players access to Pro Visual and Pro Performance graphics settings that take advantage of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaling.
PS5 port on Starfield goes live on Tuesday, April 7 along with the game's Terran Armada expansion and Free Lanes content update. The Free Lanes update will be available to everyone Starfield player, and will not require Terran Armada DLC. Despite nearly three years of Xbox console exclusivity, PS5 gamers wasted no time in pre-ordering Starfield on PlayStation Store. Starfield quickly rose to the top five on the PlayStation Store charts, trailing only the open world RPG Crimson Desert.
Starfield leaked for yet another console
In the wake of the long-awaited PlayStation 5 announcement, Bethesda's Starfield faces further rumors of a release on another platform.
Starfield has some nifty features for PS5 players to use
Once Starfield coming to PS5 starting April 7th, PS5 players will have some exclusive options to consider. The adaptive triggers on the PS5's DualSense Controller can be used to add some resistance when firing a firearm, and the light bar on the DualSense Controller will change color as players gain or lose health. For example, the light bar will turn red when the player runs out of health, but will return to its default state when HP is restored. Additionally, the touchpad can be used for quick menu access, such as clicking on the left side of the touchpad to access the mission log. The DualSense Controller's speakers can also be used to play voice logs, which should add some depth to the gaming experience. It is currently unclear if these DualSense Controller features will make it to the Steam version of the Starfield.
Starfield will also offer some graphical options for PS5 and PS5 Pro players to consider. PS5 Pro will have exclusive access to Pro Visual and Pro Performance graphics modes, both of which rely on PSSR upscaling to deliver the graphics gamers want. Pro Visual Mode will be output Starfield in a 4K resolution with a target frame rate of 30 frames per second (FPS). By comparison, Pro Performance Mode will aim for 60 FPS. Both Pro Visual Mode and Pro Performance Mode will use PSSR upscaling on PS5 Pro. However, base PS5 users should still have the same graphics options as the Xbox Series X/S versions of Starfieldfor example, options to change the frame rate to 40 FPS or 60 FPS. It remains to be seen what specific graphics settings base PS5 users will have compared to the PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X/S.
Starfield on PS5 is well advanced
Porting Starfield to the PS5 is something that has been on Bethesda's to-do list for quite some time, according to game director Todd Howard. Howard said during an interview in March that Bethesda had a great relationship with PlayStation and said so Starfieldits arrival on the PS5 was only a matter of time. With other Bethesda titles such as Fallout 76 and Skyrim also on PS5, Starfield's port is just one part of Bethesda's continued support for the PlayStation platform.
Fit the 9 games into the grid.
