There are thousands of cosmetic items in Fortnitebut only a few of them are exclusive and will remain unobtainable. Battle Pass skins had always been marketed as exclusives, meaning there would be no way to get them once the pass became available. But back in Chapter 5 Season 3, Epic Games announced that this would change next season.
Fortnite: All V-Buck Pack Prices and Updated Pass Costs
V-Bucks prices have gone up and pass prices have gone down – here's how much Fortnite's in-game currency has changed with the launch of C7S2.
According to the rules set by Epic Games, skins given away in passes would only be made available 18 months after that pass's end date. That time is fast approaching, and this guide tells players what they need to know about the return of Battle Pass skins in Fortnite.
When can Battle Pass Skins return to Fortnite via the Item Shop?
Epic Games announced the changes being made to item exclusivity in August 2024, two weeks before the end of Chapter 5 Season 3. The reason for this change was the fact that some skins, mainly famous characters from collabs, were locked and could not be obtained by players, as they were Battle Pass rewards.
The official announcement mentioned that these changes would only be applicable to cosmetics presented in passports after the announcement. This means it Battle Pass items released after August 7, 2024 may return to Fortnite 18 months after they were last available through a passport.
Which Battle Pass skins could be coming back to Fortnite?
The passes that went live after the announcement ended on November 2, 2024, meaning they can return to Fortnite as Item Shop items after May 2, 2026. Here are the cosmetics that can appear in the Item Shop, as they were released after August 2024:
-
Battle Pass cosmetics from Chapter 5 Season 4 onwards
-
Music Pass cosmetics from season 5 onwards
-
LEGO Pass cosmetics from Tropical Treasures onwards
One thing Epic Games notes about this return is that bonus styles and super styles may be sold along with these skins, but that's not a guarantee. Also, it's likely that some skins will never be made available again in the store, even if they can. Cosmetics that are the result of collaborations have a much higher chance of returning, since they were the reason this change happened in the first place.
