PlayStation 5 gamers have at least eight major new games to look forward to in April 2026. The PlayStation 5 has had a busy 2026 so far, thanks mainly to third-party games. At the end of February, the highest rated new PS5 game of 2026 so far was released in the form of Resident Evil Requiemand there have been plenty of other third-party multiplat releases on the system in recent months as well.
In the case of first-party PlayStation games, MLB The Show 26 recently released for the PS5, although it has received a more mixed reception compared to previous games in the franchise. Looking ahead, there are some huge first-party PS5 games launching in the near future, with one really big game coming in April 2026.
PS5 players have wasted absolutely zero time pre-ordering Xbox's Starfield
PlayStation 5 players have jumped at the chance to pre-order Xbox's Starfield following the latest announcement for the platform.
Saros is arguably the top new PS5 game coming in April 2026 and will launch exclusively for Sony's latest console on April 30. Saros is the next game from Housemarque, the studio behind the critically acclaimed roguelike game Return. Saros appears to be a development of Returns concept, with flashy bullet hell style battles mixed with a breathtaking sci-fi world and a captivating story. What has been shown by Saros has been incredibly impressive so far, and I personally can't wait to try it myself in April.

But while Saros might get the most attention from PS5 owners when it comes to April 2026 new releases, it's far from the only game launching next month. The month will start with a brand new release from Konami launching on April 2nd. Title Darwin's paradoxKonami's new game is a side-scrolling platform game where players take on the role of an octopus. Trailers shown so far have highlighted the game's quirky vibes, and it looks like it's going to be a fun time for platform fans.
Five days later on April 7, PS5 players will get the chance to play Starfield. Developed by Bethesda, Starfield is a massive open world sci-fi game that effectively takes the gameplay mechanics from titles like Fall-out and The Elder Scrolls and places them in space. StarfieldThe PS5 launch will coincide with a huge new update called Free Lanes that revamps the game by adding major new features, with a paid expansion called Terran Armada releasing on the same day. Starfield has been exclusive to the Xbox Series X/S for years, but PS5 players will be able to play a bigger and potentially better version of the game right out of the box.
Then, on April 16, PS5 players will get to play Mouse: PI for hirean FPS with a unique art style similar to classic cartoons. Mouse: PI for hire was once set for a March 2026 release but was delayed to April, so hopefully it'll be worth the wait. Conversely, one of the April 2026 PS5 games is actually releasing earlier than originally expected. Capcom has moved Pragmaticsrelease date until April 17, meaning fans won't have to wait as long to see if the company's new sci-fi shooter lives up to expectations.
On April 22, PS5 players can check out Tomorrow's tidean exciting new game published by THQ Nordic. Tomorrow's tide is about exploring an ocean planet with the ability to see how other players interacted with the world. What other players are doing in their own games Tomorrow's tide affects other players' gameplay, affects NPC reactions, and can make things harder or easier for everyone else. It's a fascinating idea, and it will be interesting to see if it can stick the landing.
There will also be a new one Diablo 4 expansion was released in April, with Lord of Hate launched on April 28.
Tomorrow's tide and all the other games mentioned so far are paid releases, but a big new free-to-play game is also coming to PS5 in April. Neverness to Everness is an open-world action RPG with a gacha system that has often been described as an anime version Grand Theft Auto. Whether it lives up to that promise remains to be seen, but PS5 players can try it for free on April 29.
And finally, there is Invincible VS. The hit Prime TV adaptation of Robert Kirkman's comic book is in the middle of its fourth season, which will end about a week before the video game launches.
