A Pokemon Pokopia the player has created a surprising path to Rick Roll friends using the game's creative system. There really seems to be no limit to Pokopias creativity, as fans have so far created everything from a real-life Pokemon Center store to Pokemon Gold and Silvers bell tower.
For the uninitiated, or perhaps the youngest members of the audience, Rickrolling is an internet meme that originated in 2007, saw the height of its popularity in 2008, and has seen many resurgences over the years, including during the covid-19 pandemic. The content involves baiting and switching someone by using a disguised hyperlink that leads to the 1987 Rick Astley song “Never Gonna Give You Up” instead of what it says or is supposed to be. It also refers to when someone plays the song in an unexpected way. Overall, the meme's popularity has led YouTube's official video of “Never Gonna Give You Up” to pass 1 billion views in 2021 (and has continued to soar ever since), and now, a Pokopia players have created a tunnel dedicated to Rickrolling.

Pokemon Pokopia's Rick Roll Railway
Redditor Luneli recently shared his creation on Pokopia subreddit. At first it seems like a typical railway created through a tunnel in the game with some music elements. Luneli revealed that they spent hours trying to understand the music system, but eventually “gave up and did this instead.” Giving up in this context means creating a solid recreation of a popular meme and song, I guess, because now every passenger is hit with a little rick roll upon arrival. “No regrets,” said Luneli.

In the comments, user Sad-Cantaloupe2671 wished so Pokopia contained silent tracks, and Luneli expressed similar thoughts. They had tried some ways to silence the tracks to make Rick Roll a little better, like using specific Pokemon in it Pokopiabut this was all that was possible at the time. Luneli was quite grateful for all the accolades the fans got them, including but not limited to,
However, this is not the end for Luneli. In response to GPAnimations, Luneli revealed that they have “escalated” their creation and “more is on the way.” The safest bet is of course bigger, grander and/or longer Rickrolling loops to come Pokopia soon, and it's a fun thing to think about in 2026.
Pokopia's creativity is unlimited
Give a player a sandbox, and they will create a sandcastle. Such creativity has mattered Minecraft player, Animal Crossing players, and basically any franchise with a solid sandbox with tons of creative features.
In hindsight, it was really only a matter of time before one Pokémon life sim was created and gave fans this freedom in a world inspired by the creatures. Rickrolling might not have been the first thing that came to mind for many, but the fact that it did for Luneli just makes the internet a slightly heartwarming place. Totally agreed, creating the Rick Roll Railway was an excellent use of free will and the best thing on the internet that many will see, at least for a day or two.
