Nintendo has officially rolled out new compatibility fixes for 10 Nintendo Switch games on Nintendo Switch 2along with some minor fixes for several other games. The newest home console from Nintendo has already become a huge success as the sequel to one of the company's most popular consoles of all time, quickly becoming Nintendo's fastest selling console. Some of Nintendo's most popular franchises have already made their way onto the Switch 2, with new ones Mario Kart, Donkey Kongand Pokémon games, among other things. Nintendo has also made efforts to support older games on the new hardware.

Since the launch of the Switch 2, Nintendo has released several patches aimed at making original Switch games work better on the console. The developer has pushed a slew of compatibility updates for various Nintendo Switch games, with some games from the older hardware experiencing issues on the Switch 2. The console also recently received a major upgrade for fans looking to play their older games on the console, adding a new feature that allows the Switch 2's handheld mode to run original Switch games in docked mode. Now even more games are getting some useful compatibility fixes.

The selection of 10 games that received updates included a first-party Nintendo game, with Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe patched on Switch 2 as part of the update. The list also included some major third-party titles on the platform, pushing out compatibility tweaks for games like Square-Enix's Final Fantasy 12: Zodiac Age and id software Doom (2016). Several indie games received a compatibility boost, among others A hat in time and Limbo among the list of games receiving compatibility fixes.

In addition to the compatibility fixes, Nintendo also addressed some ongoing issues with other Switch games playing on the Switch 2. The developer identified five games that are currently experiencing “game progression issues” on the Switch 2, with the most notable game in the group Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed. Nintendo also listed two Switch 1 games currently experiencing issues on the new console, with indie platformers Pizza tower have graphics issues and Laysara: Summit Kingdom experiencing problems with the touch screen. The listed games will likely be included in the next round of compatibility fixes for Switch 2.

Nintendo fans should have a lot to look forward to from Nintendo's newest console as it nears its one-year anniversary.
