Pokemon Pokopia fans have started building artwork to automate farming

Pokemon Pokopia is a useful little game, but it also makes you do a bunch of mind-blowing work to really make sure your Pokemon pals are happy. Whether it's tending crops or building multifunctional rail systems, there's a lot to cram into your day, and it can feel a little overwhelming at times.

Sure, there are things the game gives you to make building easier. There's what's essentially a Magnemite God mode that you only unlock after the credits roll, but when it comes to being lazy and doing as little work as possible for maximum results, you can't beat good old human ingenuity. We are truly masters at doing as little work as possible.

Pokopia players already automate the busy work of the game

First spotted by Kotaku, one particular player who goes by the name Nin10Donuts on Reddit is described as the “caveman who made fire,” thanks to their attempt to create a Minecraft-like logic gate with laser sensors. Essentially, they show how they could use water, laser sensors and doors to create a fully automated system that controls the flow of water without actually having to do anything yourself, use it to activate a sprinkler and water a certain area.

It's the first steps to fully automated systems, and I can already see headlines about how someone managed to recreate Doom in Pokemon Pokopia with nothing but doors and water.

Even if you're not a technical wizard and can't get around logic gates, there are other Pokopia fans who use gravity and some clever thinking to make the game work for them instead. A Twitter user named Inaba_chan recently went viral for his Pokopia clip, where they opened a sluice of sorts to allow water to flow into their yard, which was below the water level.

It then spread across all their crops and down to another area, watering them all perfectly without having to use the Water Gun on a bunch of different trays. They could then get rid of the water by closing the sluice gate and the water entry point. It's all very clever and impressive considering that Pokopia has actually only been in the hands of players for about a week.

I dread to imagine exactly what Pokopia players will be building another week, or even a month from now. We've already seen some truly mind-blowing builds in similar games like Minecraft and Dragon Quest Builders, and now that more people are aware of Magnemite God Mode, the possibilities right now feel seemingly endless. As for me, I'll continue to slowly spray my crops with the Water Gun, because I can barely build a house in a minute, never mind rig up logic gates.
