Pokemon Pokopia players think they've found a tip for a major DLC expansion

Pokemon Pokopia players believe they may have found an in-game clue that points to the location of a major expansion pack. Pokemon Pokopia is a wildly successful franchise offshoot that largely rhymes with Animal Crossingexcept with a pokemon-theme skin is applied on top. IN Pokopiaplayers build Pokémon habitats and explore a variety of islands, and the central gameplay loop is so good that the game found instant critical acclaim and fan adoration.

In fact, Pokemon Pokopia caused Nintendo's stock to jump 15% with how well it's done since its March 5 launch, and it's the highest-ranked Pokémon game on Metacritic, excludes nothing. The game takes place in the series' iconic Kanto region, albeit a long time after the events of Pokémon Heart gold and SoulSilver game, and there are a total of five unique biomes/locations for players to explore and repair as their humanoid Ditto protagonist. Adding more regions is obviously an easy way to integrate future DLC, and some believe that's exactly what will happen.

Players believe that Pokemon Pokopia is getting the Sevii Islands DLC

Because practically every Pokémon fans on Switch 2 enjoy the strangely picturesque post-apocalyptic vision of Kanto found in Pokemon Pokopiait's only natural that players look at the game's written notes with a keen eye. One of these notes has been singled out by Pokémon content creator Light_88 over on Twitter, as he specifically points out the currently inaccessible Sevii Islands as a hotspot for rare Pokémon meetings. It's an incredibly enticing note, and one that may have been added to the game as a hint for future DLCs. With that in mind Pokopia enjoys extremely high ratings, it's not at all a great hope for the future of the game.

The Sevi Islands originally appeared as Pokemon FireRed and Leaf greens post-campaign content, where players went to hunt the game's beloved legendary birds: Lugia, Ho-Oh, and Moltres. As such, Sevii is beloved by seasoned franchise fans and would serve as an excellent piece of post-launch content for Pokopia players to explore. Since the game currently has two locked, seemingly totally inaccessible island gates (the ones located at the northern end of the Withered Wastelands and on the eastern side of the Sparkling Skylands), it would be easy for Nintendo to keep adding more to it. A MAGA theme Pokemon Pokopia DLC seems to be out of the picture though.

Note that these gates can also be opened by a simple event, as Nintendo utilizes FOMO strategies in Pokemon Pokopia. It is unlikely that an event would be used in this way, but not at all impossible. Events that rely on players' fear of missing out aren't new to longtime fans of the franchise, nor is it a new concept for Animal Crossing veterans, but it's something to be aware of. Depending on how strong Pokopias event-based progression structure might be getting some Pokémon can become quite annoying and difficult for a long time.

Of course, one has to consider the possibility that the gaming magazine that Light_88 refers to could very well be simple set dressing for Pokopias setting. There is no actual confirmation that a Sevii Islands DLC is in production for Pokemon Pokopia at this point, and until Nintendo comes out and says something on the subject, guesswork is all the community has to rely on. For now, it may simply be more productive to focus on optimizing Pokemon Pokopias progression and gameplay loop, and it's not like the game doesn't already have tons of content.
