Best Pokemon not in Pokopia

Pokemon Pokopia has an impressive number of Pokémon in it for a spin-off title. There are about 300, which isn't as good as getting every 1,000+ Pokemon in the game, but that feat would be huge. Not even the main line Pokémon games have ever done so without the help of DLC or trading in older versions of games.

Each Pokémon in the game has a specialty that can help players, such as Charmander, which can light fire. Pokemon Pokopia will surely have DLC, and when that day comes, these are the Pokemon fans want to see the most. From beloved nostalgia picks to more obscure Pokémon, let's get into it.

Totodile

The Missing Starters

Everyone has their favorite starter or favorite trio of starters in Pokémon franchise and, surprisingly, the classic lineup of Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle were added in Pokemon Pokopia. There was also a representative from each Pokemon generation, but no other trios were in the game.

For example, Torchic entered the Bleak Beach area while Treecko and Mudkip are missing from Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire. While getting every newbie into the game would be a plus, there are many fans who would like to see Totodile from Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver do so, as it is an amazing and energetic water type.

Drowzee

You're getting sleepy

There is a Pokemon that players can find named Drifloon, which takes them to a randomized island called Dream Island i Pokemon Pokopia, as long as the players give it a doll. Different dolls will transport players to different island types, and although its evolved form is present in the game, Drifloon is the only Pokémon that can travel to Dream Island via airbridge.

That said, there are other Pokémon that could use their specialty in sleep and dream skills to take players to alternate realities in search of rare loot. Drowzee would be a good example, and Munna would be another, as they both have a fondness/power over the reality of dreams.

Sandy gasp

Want to build a sandman?

Sandygast is a ghost pokemon that lives in sandcastles, or more that mimics them, i Pokémon universe. There is also an evolved form, Palossand, and both are from Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon.

There are various beaches and shorelines bordering the sea Pokemon Pokopiaso it would have made sense to include a way to attract any of these Pokémon. There are a lot of beach-based habitats in Pokemon Pokopia already, so this feels like a missed opportunity.

Mileage tank

A smoothie ingredient

There is one more cooking component Pokemon Pokopia when they rescue Greedent from its barrel prison. Players can make salads, soups, and other dishes that can boost moves like making the Water Gun's spray go further. There are also vending machines that contain various drinks, such as milk, that can be used in cooking or just drunk as is.

Squirtle in Pokemon Pokopia (2026)

8 Early Water Specialty Pokemon in Pokopia (and How to Get Them)

Squirtle sure knows how to keep the plants thriving. Pokopia players should befriend these Water Specialty Pokemon as early as possible.

Miltank is a cow Pokémon from Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver which was known in the country for producing high quality milk. It would have made sense to bring it Pokemon Pokopia for cooking purposes.

Throh/Sawk

Two Titans Of The Dojo

Tyrogue, Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, and Hitmontop all appear in Pokemon Pokopia as classic representatives of Fighting-Type Pokémon that have varying degrees of skills. Two more forgotten Fighting-Type Pokemon introduced later in the series, i Pokemon Black and Pokemon whiteare Throh and Sawk.

They could have been good Pokemon to give the Build or Bulldoze specialty to. It would also have been great to have more humanoid Pokemon in the game, fitting with the theme of searching for lost people.

Lickitung

As strange as ditto

One of the best things about Pokemon Pokopia is that the team went to great lengths to make Ditto look incredibly weird between his human form and transforming while using powers. Additionally, Ditto can absorb materials, including water later on, as if channeling Kirby from the other major Nintendo franchise.

An equally strange Pokemon with stomach powers is Lickitung, a first generation Pokemon that has a giant tongue. The pink design and simple eyes would have been fun to see next to a Ditto model, or its evolved Lickilicky form, as they share a lot in common.

Pansage/Pansear/Panpour

Three little monkeys

Pokemon Black and Pokemon white introduced a series of ape-based Pokémon to the franchise, Pansage, Pansear, or Panpour, all varied with either Grass-Type, Fire-Type, or Water-Type powers. This ensured that players could get a good early Pokemon to help their team in an element they didn't pick as a starter.

For example, if players choose Tepig as an appetizer, then Panpour or Pansage would be good options. The elements don't matter Pokemon Pokopiabut it would still have been cool to see these monkeys go wild.

Sluggish

A volcanic eruption

Slugma was introduced in Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver, along with its evolved form, the Magcargo. These fire-based slug and snail combos would fit perfectly into the volcanic areas of the game, like the central one in Rocky Ridges.

Every major way Pokémon Pokopia surpasses Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Find out why Pokemon Pokopia is better than Animal Crossing: New Horizons, offering a bigger world, more rewards and improved gameplay.

There are some Fire-Type Pokemon that can spawn in the mines or deep volcanic areas, like Magmar, but there aren't enough to justify having a heated area like that. The volcano in Rocky Ridges should be allowed to thrive with Pokemon below.

Loud

Party Rock Anthem

Pokemon Pokopia has a gentle and soothing soundtrack based on the past Pokémon music, especially from Pokemon blue and Pokemon Red era. While these new renditions are awesome, players can also find random treasures in the ground or placed in the environment to find, like CDs. When given to a Pokemon like DJ Rotom, it can play that music for all to hear.

Another Pokémon with a singing attribute is Loudred, and its other forms, Whismur and Exploud, are all descended from Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire. These Pokemon would fit right in with the DJ Rotom vibe Pokemon Pokopiaalthough CDs cannot be inserted into them as smoothly as the DJ Rotom.

Caterpie

Bug hunting

Pokemon Pokopia has many classic Pokémon from the first generation such as Venonat, Zubat, Scyther, Bulbasaur, Pidgey, and the list goes on. Oddly enough, it doesn't have that many bugs from all Pokemon generations, and fans would surely have loved to see Caterpie in the game. Caterpie, Metapod and Butterfree all hanging out in flower gardens would have made so much sense.

It's understandable that Weedle, another first-generation Bug-Type Pokémon, wasn't included because its final form, Beedrill, would have clashed too much with Vespiquen in terms of design.
