A pirate crew can only go as far as their captain can. The One Piece the world is filled with dangerous and skilled pirates, but the strongest crews succeed thanks to the leadership and skill of the people who lead them.
We have seen some tough captains do amazing things in the series so far. It's not just Luffy who takes all the limelight, though the Straw Hat captain has pulled off incredible feat after incredible feat. With so many infamous captains roaming the seas, the world government has taken notice and placed some ridiculous bounties on their heads. These stand as the highest captaincy awards in the series.

Which Straw Hats have received the highest rewards so far?
Monkey D. Luffy / Trafalgar D. Water Law / Eustass Kid — 3,000,000,000 Berry
It makes sense that members of the Worst Generation would have some of the highest rewards in the series. Luffy, Law and Kid have done much to gain the attention of the world government, and the price on their heads shows how much of a threat they are perceived to be to the people in charge of ruling the world.
Luffy has come a long way from the original 30,000,000 Berry Bounty he earned in East Blue, with the events Marineford, Enies Lobby, Dressrosa, Wano and more gradually increasing his reward to what it is now. Law's reward increased from 80,000,000 Berry to 200,000,000 earlier in the series, making him a Super Rookie. It later jumped to 440,000,000 Berry after the time jump and 500,000,000 after he and Luffy took down Doflamingo and the Donquixote Pirates. Kid started with the highest reward, earning a 315,000,000 Berry reward for terrorizing civilians. But with how fond the world government is of covering things up and lying, who knows how much of it is true. His bounty was raised to 470,000,000 sometime during the time jump, and he and Law had their bounties pushed up to 3,000,000,000 Berry after taking on Big Mom.
Buggy – 3,189,000,000 Carry
No character has managed to fall forward One Piece as much as Buggy has done during his time as a pirate. Although he is known to have been part of the Roger Pirates in his youth, Buggy is not the same kind of force in the pirate world that his former crewmate, Shanks, is. But that hasn't stopped him from earning one of the biggest rewards in the series.
While still in East Blue, Buggy's reward reached 15,000,000 Berry. Considering how inept he is, that still seems pretty high, but it would balloon to a whopping 3,189,000,000 Berry once the Seven Warlords of the Sea were abolished, and Buggy was publicly recognized as an Emperor and the leader of the Cross Guild. Although the Cross Guild is not technically a pirate crew, its members are all pirates, making Buggy their “captain” (though only in name).
Blackbeard — 3,996,000,000 Berry
We don't know exactly how much his father, Rocks D. Xebec's bounty was, but we can be sure that Blackbeard is still following his father there. With everything he's got going for him, you can expect Backbeard to get an even bigger bounty soon—one that would likely eclipse Rock's bounty, though we're still waiting on an official number.
When Gecko Moria attacks Hachinosu, Blackbeard's bounty is revealed to be 2,247,600,000 Berry. Sometime later, his reward was raised to 3,996,000,000 Berry. We don't know exactly what actions led Teach to earn such high rewards, but it's clear that the World Government is very aware of the Blackbeard pirates and takes the threat they pose to their rule very seriously.
Big Mom — 4,388,000,000 Berries
As a former emperor and leader of one of the largest crews around, Big Mom is an absolute force of nature in the pirate world. As a former member of the Rocks Pirates and the current user of Soru Soru no Mi, it's easy to see why Big Mom got as big a reward as she did.
At just six years old, Linlin received a 50,000,000 Berry bounty when she teamed up with Streusen. She would earn a 500,000,000 Berry reward later, and that reward would increase to 4,388,000,000 Berry before the events of the Whole Cake Island Arc. Big Mom was one of the great pirates of her time, so seeing the world government put such a high price on her makes sense.
Kaido — 4,611,100,000 Berries
Another former member of the Rocks Pirates, Kaido proved to be just the terrifying force his reputation suggested he was. The captain of the Beast Pirates, Kaido leads one of the largest and most powerful crews in the modern One Piece world.
When he was 13, Kaido received a 70,000,000 Berry reward for escaping from a Navy ship, putting a massive target on his back at a young age, just like Big Mom. Between his time as a member of the Rocks Pirates and the events that took place in Wano, Kaido did enough to earn an incredible 4,611,100,000 Berry reward.
Shaft — 4,048,900,000 Berry
As we get deeper and deeper into the One Piece's playoffs, it has become more and more clear that Shanks will play an even more important role than fans thought he would. One of the Four Emperors, a member of the Figarland family and a former member of the Roger Pirates, it's easy to see why Shank's bounty is as high as it is.

Shanks has only ever had two noted bounties throughout the series. At the beginning of the series, Shank's reward was set at 1,040,000,000 Berry. Once the World Government had gotten rid of the Seven Warlords system, Shank's bounty rose to the 4,048,900,000 berries it is today. With all the time he's spent at sea, and his brief return to the Figarland family, it's not hard to guess how Shank's bounty got to be as high as it is. You have to assume that his theft of Gomu Gomu no Mi, given what we know about it now, definitely played a big part in him getting one of the highest rewards in the series.
Whitebeard – 5,046,000,000 Berries
Like many of the captains on this list, Whitebeard had quite a long career as we begin to follow Luffy's own journey to greatness. Whitebeard, a former member of the Rocks Pirates along with Big Mom and Kaido, was considered the strongest pirate alive after Roger's death and was given the title of Strongest Man in the World.
His reputation, massive crew, and incredibly powerful Gura Gura no Mi Devil Fruit made him one of the biggest threats to the World Government. Before he died, Whitebeard was the strongest of the four emperors, so it only makes sense that he would have received the highest reward of the group.
Gol D. Roger – 5,564,800,000 Berry
Roger Pirates' captain, Gol D. Roger, considered to be the greatest pirate ever and having earned the title Pirate King, was one of the main figures in One Piece history. Roger was part of some of the most consequential events in the series, starting the Great Age of Piracy with his execution at the hands of the World Government.
Roger received the highest reward of any pirate in history, and no other pirate has come close since his death. Whitebeard is the only other character to pass 5,000,000,000 Berry, and the way things are going, Luffy, Blackbeard, and Shanks have a chance to approach or even surpass Roger's bounty. But it looks like the Pirate King is winning.
