Legendary Super Saiyan is by far the strongest standard Super Saiyan form in Dragon Ball. Even without access to God Ki, Legendary Super Saiyan Broly was so strong that he was able to defeat Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta alongside him. Even Super Saiyan Gogeta wasn't strong enough to beat Broly without turning Super Saiyan blue.

Of course, a lot of this is due to Broly's latent potential, but that doesn't change how overpowered the Legendary Super Saiyan is as a form. Only a few conversions in Dragon Ball Super is stronger than the Legendary Super Saiyan, and even then, just barely. Broly gets stronger the longer he fights, so his legendary Super Saiyan form has the potential to become the most powerful form in the series.

True Ultra Instinct is Goku's strongest form right now
Vegeta and Gohan may be stronger than Goku currently, but that doesn't stop Ultra Instinct from being one of the strongest forms in the entire series. During Granolah the Survivor Saga, Goku unlocks True Ultra Instinct, a new and improved version of the UI that he can trigger as a regular transformation while stacking his various Super Saiyan forms on top, allowing him to make use of Ultra Instinct's autonomous movement and his various SSJ Power Level multipliers.
Goku unfortunately couldn't trigger Ultra Instinct manually during Dragon Ball Super: Brolydue to the movie taking place right after the Tournament of Power, but after training with Merus in the Moro arc, he has no problem switching on and off Ultra Instinct like any other form. Now that Goku's fully mastered Ultra Instinct, Broly doesn't stand a chance against him—until Broly learns to control his full power, that is.

Vegeta would never have lost if he had Ultra Ego during Dragon Ball Super: Broly
After unlocking Ultra Ego while fighting Granolah, Vegeta became slightly stronger than Goku. Unfortunately, Goku's mastery of Ultra Instinct far surpasses Vegeta's grasp of Ultra Ego, but his base power level and skill set were enough for him to defeat Goku by the end of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. If Vegeta had access to Ultra Ego in Dragon Ball Super: Brolythere is no way he would lose to LSSJ Broly.
Dragon Ball Super: Strongest Characters Who Could Kill a God, Ranked
As absurdly powerful as Dragon Ball Super's gods are, a few impressive characters have grown strong enough to even kill a god of destruction.
Even unmastered, Ultra Ego is an extremely dangerous and powerful transformation. Like Broly, Ultra Ego Vegeta gets stronger the longer he fights, especially when he starts taking damage. Assuming Broly doesn't knock him out beforehand, the power boost Vegeta would get from Ultra Ego would be more than enough to take down the legendary Super Saiyan. Even without UE, Vegeta is currently strong enough to fight Gohan Beast while using Super Saiyan Blue Evolved, as seen in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103.

Gohan Beast is objectively stronger than legendary Super Saiyan Broly
To follow the golden rule Dragon Ballthe latest villain is always stronger than the last. This means that Cell Max is absolutely stronger than Legendary Super Saiyan Broly. Lending more evidence to this idea is the fact that Piccolo does not believe that Goku or Vegeta would have been able to defeat Cell Max. While Piccolo was not present for Granolah the Survivor Saga, he was around for Dragon Ball Super: Broly and Moro Saga, so he knows what Goku and Vegeta are capable of.
The fact that Gohan Beast is the only character strong enough to kill Cell Max puts him in a league above Broly. Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103 doubles down on this by having Gohan Beast spar with Super Saiyan Broly in a fight. Sure, Broly doesn't use the Legendary Super Saiyan during this battle, but Gohan Beast manages to keep the upper hand and finally defeats him in the Super Saiyan Battle Royale depicted in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103.

Black Frieza is the most powerful transformation in Dragon Ball Super
Black Frieza is by far the strongest unique transformation in Dragon Ball Super. Training for ten years in a hyperbolic time chamber he found while exploring the multiverse, Frieza goes from weaker to legendary Super Saiyan to strong enough to kill Gas and defeat Goku & Vegeta without breaking a sweat. The only reason Black Frieza doesn't kill Goku or Vegeta is simply because he wasn't there to fight them.
Dragon Ball Super Manga gets a disappointing update 1 full year since hiatus
The April 2026 issue of V-Jump has revealed that Toyotarou's Dragon Ball Super manga is still on hiatus, with no return date in sight.
Goku and Vegeta spend it all Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero training to beat Black Frieza, and the fact that they're actively training Broly on Beerus' Planet suggests that even the legendary Super Saiyan form isn't strong enough to stop him. Broly will have a better chance once he masters LSSJ, but as it stands, Black Frieza would kill legendary Super Saiyan Broly relatively easily.

Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta was already strong enough to defeat LSSJ Broly
Gogeta may very well be the strongest character in Dragon Ball Superbut Goku and Vegeta are unlikely to ever fuse into him again. Gogeta is a last resort, and not a single Goku or Vegeta care to trust. They only bothered to fuse into Gogeta at all because legendary Super Saiyan Broly proved to be so out of control that they couldn't stop him as just Super Saiyan Blues.
Using his own version of Super Saiyan Blue, SSB Gogeta surpasses the legendary Super Saiyan Broly in every way. In Akira Toriyama's original draft Dragon Ball Super: BrolyGogeta Blue even brings LSSJ Broly to the literal sun for their final battle. If there's anyone powerful enough to defeat a legendary Super Saiyan, it's the strongest fusion of all time: Gogeta Blue.
