Just when you thought Funko was really going to expand its Baldur's Gate 3 horizons, it's back to old reliable. By that I mean Astarion, of course, as the core companion gets two more Funko Pops before the likes of Halsin and Minthara even have one.
Astarion gets two more Funko Pops
There is a silver lining – one of these Funko Pops is shirtless. I'm not sure how many characters have shirtless Funko Pop variants, but I'd hazard a guess that Astarion is now in a league of his own. The shirtless Astarion Pop gives everyone's favorite vampire piercing red eyes, and the little glass of blood in his right hand is a nice touch.
Speaking of blood, Astarion is unfortunately much more covered in the second of his two Pops released today. However, this additional design sets Pop apart from his original figure as it is splattered with blood. A surprisingly common theme for Funko Pops as some of the Invincible characters also have figures that are more or less the same as their original designs, just with fake blood smeared on them.
This now means that Astarion kind of has four Pops, since his first one had a chase variant.
Even better news, the bare-chested Astarion Pop isn't a store exclusive. That means, as of 12pm EST todayshould be available to pre-order from almost anywhere you usually buy your Funko Pops, including Amazon and the official Funko website. If you prefer your Astarion blood splattered, you'll need to check out Funko's website.
Funko tends to keep some limited edition pops for itself, or on the odd occasion it will give them out to other stores like GameStop and Target. At least at this point, the bloody Astarion Pop should be available internationally as it won't be limited to a US-only storefront. It will probably still be harder to find than regular Astarion and his shirtless body, since it will only be in one place.
Raphael, The Emperor and Jaheira Funko Pops also release today
The twin Astarion Pops were kept under wraps as the Baldur's Gate 3 community was distracted by Funko finally branching out this week. Raphael, Jaheira, and The Emperor Pops were revealed, marking the first time anyone outside of the game's core six characters has received the Funko treatment.
That Funko has already returned to the Astarion well has rubbed some the wrong way, though, especially when there are still so many unfigured characters. Withers, Halsin, even The Dark Urge. You have to imagine Minthara will turn into a Funko Pop eventually too. Her actor, Emma Gregory, responded to this week's pop revelations, asking why her character doesn't have a figure yet.
