New open-world game on Steam is probably the closest we'll ever get to Bully 2

Beyond Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead RedemptionRockstar's one-off game that Bully and LA Noire often sleeps on titles. Although not as popular as Rockstar's juggernauts, Bully has maintained a cult following over the years that has held out hope for a sequel. Unfortunately, there don't seem to be any known plans to point to Rockstar making one Bully sequel after the original version was discontinued. At this point, Bullying 2 is a dream, but Steam has a potential replacement on the way.

There are plenty of simulation games on Steam, but very few, if any, delve into what it was like to be a teenager in the early 2000s. This is what does Bully such a standout, even 20 years later. GTA and Red Dead Redemption clones have appeared over the years, but Bully remains largely on its own. Well, it used to. A new game coming to Steam can have all the features perfect for one Bully fans who have been patiently waiting for the sequel that doesn't seem like it will ever happen. Agefield High: Rock the School places players in the middle of a 21st century teen comedy filled with crass jokes and nostalgia.

The early 2000s was an incredibly special time in pop culture, especially when it comes to comedies. After American Pie released in 1999, the arrival of the 21st century would usher in a wave of edgy teen-focused comedies that were silly, vulgar, and almost always featured crazy parties and wild antics. Movies like The girl next door, Not another teen movie, John Tucker must dieand Bring it on was everywhere. Bully was the only video game to really tap into this genre and actually nail its tone.

At Agefield High, you're the new kid in town

Players take on the role of Sam, a newcomer to the titular high school. As he's on the verge of graduating, Sam thinks being the fresh face on campus will make his last year before adulthood draining. Thankfully, Agefield High students Kale and Axel quickly befriend him to carry out their plan to make the final months of high school as wild as possible, cementing them as Agefield legends. Agefield High: Rock the School aiming to recapture the magic that did Bully one of the best games of the 21st century.

It will be difficult to reach the same heights as Bullybut even just capturing some of the game's charm and gameplay loop will be a win. Agefield High: Rock the School fast on Bullys open world design and uses it as the perfect stage for a story centered around friends trying to make their last days as high school students count.

This will be developer Refugium Games' third project. Other titles from the studio include Greyhill Incident and Vacant mine.

Between pranks and going to class, Agefield High: Rock the SchoolI bring the early 2000s back to life. The game's open world isn't huge, but it allows players to freely roam as they please. Just like how some of the best open world games on Steam put freedom at the center, Agefield High: Rock the School do this with a host of features that will grab attention Bully fans.

As players live out Sam's final days at Agefield High, they can either decide to be a good student and get to class on time or rebel and skip class to wreak havoc and pull wild pranks all over town. All good RPGs have character customization, and Agefield High: Rock the School makes this possible with the various shops around town. Players can change Sam's appearance with new clothes, haircuts and even tattoos.

right now, Agefield High: Rock the School doesn't have an official release date set in stone yet. According to its Steam page, however, the developers expect the project to be ready in time for Q2 2026. As the year goes on, more information about Agefield High: Rock the School is required to arrive the day before the launch.

Agefield High: Rock the School is currently only released for PC. There are plans for console versions, but it is unclear when they will be ready.

While Bully Fans Hold Out Hope, Agefield High: Rock the School is Waiting in the Wings

A new one Bully game would be perfect, but Agefield High: Rock the School is the closest fans will get in a while. When the indie title is finally released, it will be interesting to see how it compares to the game that adapted the struggles of school and growing up so well.
