New PS Plus Premium game for March 2026 is already being grilled by fans

2026 has seemingly started the new year with a consistent pattern for PS Plussome of which apparently carry over from late 2025. The PS Plus Essential Tieroften known as the free games, have been a mix of intermediate games, while PS Plus Extra games are forced to carry the month. PS Plus Premium continues to be the black sheep of the family, getting fewer games than the other services, and the next PS Plus Premium games have already taken off.

PlayStation State of Play revealed several PS Plus games coming to the service in the coming months. PS Plus Essential will get Great walk sometime this year. PS Plus Premium received Disney Pixar Wall-E in February and sheep Tekken: Dark Resurrection in March, as well Time crunch in May. The PS Plus Extra games for February 2026 were also confirmed to be Echoes of the End, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Monster Hunter Stories (1+2), Neva, Rugby 25, Season: A Letter to the Future, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crownand Venba.

PS Plus Premium subscribers are unhappy with Tekken: Dark Resurrection

A glance is all it takes to see the change in quantity, but sometimes quality requires a deeper investigation. Fighting game fans noticed that the PS Plus Premium version of Tekken: Dark Resurrection is specifically the PSP version of the game. It is not clear why Sony chose the PSP version when the PS2 version is considered superior by fans.

Fans wasted no time in tearing up Tekken: Dark Resurrections PSP add-ons apart. “Please wasn't a repeat of T6 without multiplayer. That was stupid,” said one. Fans were quick to point out how much more simplistic the PSP version is, with missing content on top of it, like the vanilla Tekken 5 stages. The PSP version also has no contra mode and inferior graphics, which may mean that Sony wants fans to get the best single player experience, but even that is up for debate. No PS Plus Classics catalog game has online play, so that might explain this choice, but any good fighting game is about multiplayer at its heart. And that's what the PS2 version could have offered.

Overall, fans are not impressed with this single game. And the reality is that while PS Plus Essential and Extra games can get by on some weak ones because they offer a handful, PS Plus Premium can't. PS Plus Premium sometimes only adds one game to the Classics Catalog, and fans probably know the one game for May. Of course, things could change before May rolls around, but fans will just have to wait and see.

PS Plus Reveal and Release pattern holds strong

Although the reveal was slightly delayed by State of Play, the February 2026 PS Plus Extra and Premium games were added on time on February 17th. This means fans know that the PS Plus free games for March will be revealed on February 25, barring all the end-of-the-month fun deals, before being added in early March, with the Extra and Premium games arriving later in March. The situation also suggests that there won't be a PS Plus Premium add-on in April.

Right now the only known game is for March Tekken: Dark Resurrection. It might not be the most appealing title, but hopefully the others for March will make up for it. I don't know if I'd trust the PS Plus free games for March to do that, but the PS Plus Extra games for March 2026 likely will (again).
