Gojo was used as a weapon throughout his life
Death: Shinjuku Showdown Arc
By far, Satoru Gojo was the most powerful wizard of the modern era and was the only one on Sukuna's level during the filming of the original series. Gojo's strength meant that he was seen more as a weapon than a person throughout his existence, and due to the loneliness that came with such a level of power, Gojo spent much of his life alone without anyone being able to understand him.
Despite this, some even claim that Gojo died exactly as he would have wanted. Honing his skills and strength for years, Gojo finally got to use them against someone who could keep up. In the end, Gojo's death may seem sufficient for what he wanted, but his life as a weapon still shows that he deserved better overall.
