Monster Hunter Wilds reveals big update for February 2026

Capcom reveals all the details for Monster Hunbter Wilds last major update, including challenging new hunts, special rewards, limited-time event missions, and a big anniversary celebration. Unfortunately for Capcom, Monster Hunter Wilds never managed to reach the same heights that captured the attention of fans with Monster Hunter World. Although the game still sold well, despite falling short of sales expectations, it often struggled with technical issues, especially for PC gamers.

But Capcom continued to work on the game, addressing player frustrations and adding new content, especially for those looking for more challenging hunts. Almost a year after launch, Capcom is winding down its update cycle and while it may have taken longer than many had hoped, it appears that Monster Hunter Wilds also fixes its biggest remaining issue with the upcoming patch.

Monster Hunter Wild's February 2026 update details

  • Release date: February 18, 2026

Monster Hunter Wilds Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto appeared in a new video from Capcom to discuss the team's plans for the upcoming major update. This last major update will arrive on February 18 and packs a lot for players, including a new battle against an Arch-tempered version of Arkveld, the cover creature of Monster Hunter Wilds. The fight requires players to be Hunter Rank 100 or higher, as Arkveld is a 10-star fight. Of course, players will be able to create unique armor sets, including feylne armors, once the right amount of materials have been collected.

Alongside Arkveld, Capcom is also bringing back all four previous Monster Hunter Wilds Arch-tempered fights in new 10-star missions. Players who can overcome these challenging fights will be rewarded with Timeworn Charms and have a high chance of earning rare talismans. During this time, an optional mission called Proof of a Hero will also be active, requiring the hunting party to kill all four monsters in 50 minutes or less.

This update also adds the winning weapon and charms submitted by players. This includes Nolan Lu's Shatterseal Greatsword, which looks like a shattered mirror, and ikei's SOS Meating Pendant, designed to look like a stuffed piece of meat held up by 3 feylnes. Players can earn these items in a new event quest. Support Hunter Nadia will also have a special co-op mission where players will have to fight what appear to be colorful blob-style creatures.

The coming one Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection will also be part of a special partnership with Wilds through a special side quest. Players will help the Royal Palico named Rudy rescue eggs while out in the world. Players can earn unique rewards such as a Rudy costume for their Palico as well as the “Monstie Themed Pendant”.

Interestingly, Ryozo Tsujimoto also revealed that Capcom looked through player data to determine that Monster Hunter WildsRompopolo is the least hunted creature in the game. As such, the development team prepared a limited-time mission to hunt down a special version of it, which offers players a selection of new and interesting rewards. There's another limited-time event starting at the end of February, with Tsujimoto teasing “dazzling” Gala costumes and Felyne Star armor sets.

The update also celebrates the one year anniversary of Monster Hunter Wilds original release date. Over the course of a month after the update arrives, players can participate in a special in-game event including a free Hunter Appreciation pack. All previous seasonal events will be on a weekly rotating schedule, allowing players to once again participate and earn the various rewards associated with them. Monster Hunter WildsThe Grand Hub will also change based on the active event, including limited time food options as well.

In addition to the February update, Tsujimoto also confirmed that a new expansion is currently in development Monster Hunter Wilds and Capcom plans for a full reveal sometime this summer. It is natural that the disclosure may follow earlier Monster Hunter announcements at the Summer Games Fest, with a big trailer likely to arrive during Geoff Keighley's showcase. Tsujimoto was light on details but referred to it as a “large-scale expansion” and was likely the size of Iceborne and Sunbreak for previous games in the series. Either way, fans should expect to see more in a few months.
