Fallout 76 reveals patch notes for February 9th update

Bethesda Game Studios has given players their first look at the patch notes for Fallout 76February 9 update, detailing which issues have been fixed and which are still being worked on. Fallout 76 originally debuted on November 14, 2018, and is currently available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

Due to the live service title being available on a variety of platforms, many members of the community have been wondering Fallout 76 will ever support cross-play. It's a feature that's come up before, as it's become common for many modern multiplayer titles to include cross-play in some way. In a recent interview, Creative Director Jon Rush claimed that the developers are currently looking into what implementing cross-play would entail. It's quite an encouraging update, as the team behind the game hasn't considered adding cross-play until now. However, Rush was quick to say that fans shouldn't expect anything anytime soon. At the time of writing, Bethesda Game Studios has not committed to implementing cross-play and has not provided any kind of timeline. This means that players should keep their expectations low for now, but it's certainly possible that fans could see this feature come to the live service one day. Currently, the developers seem to be focused on smoothing out some of the rougher elements of the game, some of which were addressed in the latest patch.

Fallout 76's February 9 update brings some critical fixes

In a recent post on Twitter, Bethesda Game Studios highlighted many bug fixes that have been included in Fallout 76update on February 9. The patch notes, which will be listed in full below, state that the developers have successfully fixed an issue that caused CAMP items purchased with Gold Bullion to not appear in the Build menu. Likewise, the developers fixed an issue with the CAMP Module shell that would cause the Build menu to appear empty. Building is a big part of Fallout 76meaning these issues caused a lot of headaches for players who encountered them when trying to create a base.

The update also includes a fix for an av Fallout 76s legendary mods. Before the patch, players could use the Reflex Legendary Mod to increase their dodge chance to 100%, which was not intended by the developers. Now that the issue has been fixed, the Legendary Mod should provide players with a more balanced experience.

Although the patch includes priority fixes, the notes explained that the developers are aware of several issues that they were unable to resolve with the February 9 update. The team is currently investigating issues with armor resistance, bows and reports that players are taking more damage than intended in Fallout 76's Burning Springs region. Burning Springs was introduced as part of a major update in late 2025, meaning many players are likely still exploring the region and taking advantage of all it has to offer. Taking more damage in the region may not be a game-breaking bug, but it is certainly an issue that can affect the enjoyment of players exploring the zone.

With some ongoing issues not addressed, many fans are wondering if another patch could be just around the corner. Bethesda is no stranger to releasing updates for live service titles, such as Fallout 76 had one of the worst launches in company history. However, through consistent updates and innovative content, the developers have managed to create a special experience for fans of the franchise. With even more content on the way, many players are feeling optimistic about the future Fallout 76.
