YAPYAP has no official tutorial, so new players must do their best to learn the game and meet their quotas. There's a lot of information to absorb, from memorizing spells to learning methods to create chaos and avoid monsters.
To make things a little easier, we've created a list of tips and tricks that can help you YAPYAP newcomers create chaos comfortably and stick around, because even veterans can learn something new. These YAPYAP tips and tricks help new players and their friends get out of their first quota with a lot of money.
How to get every rod in YAPYAP
Need a new wand with powerful spells in YapYap? Check out this guide to discover how you can get them all.
Take two wands of winds during the first quota
A spare rod is never a bad idea
The Wand of Winds is the first wand players receive YAPYAP. Since there are so many available at the start, it is reasonable for individual players or those in small groups to have access to several during the initial quota.
This tip is especially useful for solo players, as having two wands makes spell cooldowns a lot less of a concern, as you can double string or hotswap between them.
These two wands should either be double-wielded or next to each other in your right slots to make it easy to switch back and forth.
Wands can be double rolled
Become the ultimate wizard with left and right hand mastery
Players carrying two wands can hold one in each hand. When two wands are carried at the same time, your wand list shows which spells are available for each wand. This allows players to cast multiple types of spells much faster than if they placed all of their wands in their right slots.
While using the same wand, there may be problems with the same spells. If so, switch the wand in your right hand to your left if you want to cast the same spell in quick succession.
Have a player carry a light source
Navigate in the dark in Co-Op, or with your trusty off-Hand
Light sources, such as torches and candles, are extremely useful for navigating dark corridors and seeing destructible objects. When soloing, it's good to hold a light source in your left hand while you cast spells with your right. Multiplayer groups will have better luck if only part of their group carries torches.
Candles can be free in most rooms, but they will burn out. However, torches are found less often and will always burn.
The Lux Ana spell is a good replacement for holding physical light sources.
Collect all the gold found in the lobby
Get over 60 gold coins for free to access more wands and trade items
The lobby is home to a few disposable sources of gold that players should make sure to collect each run. At the start of a new game, players can grab 11 gold coins on the stairs in the house.
After completing the first quota and unlocking the basement, players can make their way over 50 gold coins scattered in the basement. These coins give you enough to get a new wand or two combined with the money you earned from meeting the quota.
Pay attention to your contracts
YAPYAP's contract board is a handy way to get extra chaos for things you might already be doing. Always check the contract board before leaving the lobby. Each contract will last until the quota runs out, potentially offering you several hundred chaos for specific chaos-inducing actions.
As you walk around, you can summon a scroll containing your current contracts by pressing the G key. It will name the contracts, show how much of each action you need to do and how many you have already done.
If you see a contract in an enemy tower, pick it up
A secret fourth contract can reward more than just chaos
These extra contracts can be found floating above the ground in an enemy tower. They'll unlock a fourth task worth tons of extra mayhem, so it's always worth picking them up.
Be sure to pay special attention to agreement on the clogging of sinks and toilets. Completing this task will lead you to Wand of Destructionwhich is both fun and super useful for destroying furniture. It can also be used to hit enemies.
Check shelves and drawers for items
Don't forget to raid for potions and gold
As you explore around and wreak havoc, be sure to open drawers and check any shelves you see. There is a chance for potion ingredients and gold to spawn in these hidden spaces.
Burn furniture, books and tapestries for extra mayhem
Arson is a wizard's best friend
Some items, like sofas, books and tapestries, don't break down the way others do. A practical way to deal with this is to set fire to them. Take one off tall candelabra in the room and hit the furniture with the lighted end. It should catch fire very quickly if it can be burned, and it results in light chaos.
Use the Piss Yuk Spell for many small acts of mayhem
Piss Yuk is one of them YAPYAP spells it constantly occurs in contracts. Usually this comes from filling containers with it and using it on monsters. The extra mayhem rewarded by fulfilling these contracts can make or break your quotas, so it's wise to keep a Grotesk Wand just in case.
Besides the contracts, the spell itself causes lots of actions worth small amounts of chaos. Using it on furniture and tapestries creates a bit of chaos before smashing them. The same goes for filling pots with it, which can then be thrown to the ground for more mayhem.
The Piss Yuk spell can also be used to explode the gelatinous green cubes. All you have to do is keep the spell on them until they explode.
Turn scary enemies into fish, then run away or throw them away
Kill enemies through Fish Yuk's transformation
The Grotesque Wand has its fair share of uses, but one of the most useful spells on it is Fish Yuk spell. The spell turns its target into a flopping fish for a short time. This is especially useful when players encounter larger, more dangerous enemies further into their YAPYAP running.
Fast players will have the opportunity to turn an enemy into a fish and throw them off the map. It can also be used to throw enemies to a lower level or to give players enough time to escape.
Hide from monsters
A wizard can run and fight, but sometimes it's smart to hide
When running away isn't an option, maybe players can hide in some furniture until monsters leave the area. Furniture that players can hide within will have an “E” followed by the word “hide” in front of it when seen.
Use crystals to get around
Crystals can be used to warp to a specified area
Players will occasionally find crystals on balconies of an enemy wizard's castle. As these crystals approach, they will tell the player where they lead: usually they will list a direction or even the extraction point. Interact with the crystal to begin warping to its intended area.
These crystals help players warp closer to extraction or away from enemies. However, players will need to be careful as it is very easy to get lost after twisting. Be sure to keep an eye on your surroundings, especially the extraction point.
Always check your wands on the Grimoire
Check for hidden spells when you get a new wand
Approaching and interacting with the Grimoire while holding a wand will reveal its page in the book. This is where players can find the wand's hidden spells. Every wand should be brought here after being unlocked.
Some spells are not listed in either the spell list or the Grimoire, so be sure to try new word combinations while playing the game!
End quotas early by going to bed
Complete your mission early to sleep through the night
If you've already reached your quota and still have a night or two left, you can choose to skip them. All you need to do is enter the lobby home, go down and interact with the bed. This will take you to the space where you submit your quota.
If the words on the bed are REDyou don't have enough chaos to meet the quota.
