Diablo 4 Season 12's new uniques are the first of their kind since October 7, 2024

Blizzard has already shared some details about what's to come Diablo 4 Season 12 PTR patch notes released via the game's official blog. While some Diablo 4 players are sure to be excited about the return of killstreaks from Diablo 3there's a lot more to enjoy in the upcoming season than just this new mechanic. Particularly, Diablo 4 Season 12 breaks a trend that started after the launch of Vessel of Hatred with the new Uniques that arrive when the season starts.

Diablo 4 Season 12 is in the awkward position of being sandwiched between the release of the Paladin class i Diablo 4 Season 11 and the Lord of Hatred expansion are coming in Season 13. As such, expectations for Season 12 should be tempered a bit, with the massive changes coming to Lord of Hatred on the horizon. There's still a lot to be excited about Diablo 4 Season 12, especially with a new batch of Uniques that exceed a class for the first time since Season 6 in October 2024.

Diablo 4's Paladin has come a long way from its Diablo 2 incarnation, and the development team had to strike a balance between the old and the new.

Diablo 4 Season 12 adds more general uniques for the first time since Season 6

The addition of new Uniques is a big part of each Diablo 4 season since launch, although some seasons have added more than others. While the first seasons of Diablo 4 bolstered the lineup of Uniques available for players to get, things have been toned down in recent seasons, with most only adding 1 new class-specific Unique for each of Diablo 4s classes.

Diablo 4 Season 11 added 22 new Uniques for the Paladin as it was a brand new class that needed to keep up with the number of Uniques available for the other 6 classes.

All new uniques are coming in Diablo 4 Season 12

Blood-Mad Idol – Unique amulet (all classes)
- Unique Affix: You are always crazy but take 200%[x] increased damage that burns over 8 seconds. While Burning gives Berserking an additional 75-125% increased damage.
Wendigo trademark — Unique ring (all classes)
- Unique Appendage: Every 15th death in the last 30-60 seconds increases your damage by 2% and max health by 1%.
Rusty Dirk — Unique Dagger (Wizard, Druid, Rogue, Necromancer)
- Unique Affix: Deal 50-100% increased damage to isolated enemies.
Wyrdskin — Unique gloves (all classes)
- Unique Affix: Attacks apply vulnerable to distant enemies, and weakened to close enemies. Deal 10-30% increased damage to enemies that are both vulnerable and weakened.
Thousand-Eye Reaver — Unique one-handed ax (Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Paladin)
- Unique Endowment: Move grants ferocity, and maximum ferocity is increased by 1-3. Wildness also increases Movement Speed by 4-8% per stack.

Three of the five new ones Diablo 4 Season 12 Uniques can be used by anyone Diablo 4 classes, while two are used by multiple classes. Instead of giving a new Unique to each class, the addition of more general Uniques should help meta-build diversity in the upcoming season, as classes will have several new Uniques to try. In particular, the Necromancer and Druid builds will have the pick, as these classes are the only ones that can use each new Unique in Diablo 4 Season 12. And with Paladin hitting some nerfs next season, it could be these two classes that emerge at the top of the Season 12 meta.

The new Unik i Diablo 4 Season 12 looks to set the stage for Lord of Hatred's content before the new expansion is released. Among these new uniques, a few stand out as meta-defining gear that can become mainstays of builds long after Lord of Hatred launches. Wyrdskin Unique Gloves in particular have a great attachment that can be almost universally valuable, as all classes can benefit from taking down enemies with Vulnerable and Weakened.

There will also likely be another wave of new Uniques for the second one Diablo 4 class comes with the Lord of Hatred expansion, which will also be able to take advantage of these new general Uniques. In preparation for this release, it's possible that Blizzard wanted to flood the game with more general and multi-class Uniques to give this new class access to a variety of gear without overloading Season 13 with too many class-specific Uniques for it.
