How to unlock the cat grooming hobby and adopt a cat in Heartopia

To unlock Cat Caring, you must reach DG level 12. At this level, talk to Mrs. Joan. She will introduce you to the Cat Caring hobby and ask you to confirm it using a Hobby Expansion Ticket.

After unlocking the hobby, you can adopt your first cat. The game gives you a few different options to choose from. When choosing a cat, you can see its breed, sex and personality traits before making your choice.

Cats in Heartopia comes with different characteristics that affect how they behave. Each cat can have up to two traitsso it's a good idea to check them before adopting. Here are all the traits and how they affect your cat's behavior:

The game does not clearly explain cat traits, so these descriptions are not officially confirmed. That's just how we've noticed they seem to work.

Before you bring your cat home, you must also pay for a quick physical exam, which costs 500 gold. After that, you can name your cat, take it home and feed it. Once you adopt a cat, you cannot return it.

How to increase your bond with a cat in Heartopia

When it comes to daily care, feeding your cat takes priority. If your cat is hungry, you won't be able to play with it or interact much at all. You can buy cat food from Mrs. Joanand in our experience, cats can also be fed fish.

Besides feeding, there are a few other ways to socialize with your cat. You can pet it, play with it, clean it when it gets dirty or take it outside. Doing these things raises your band level, and sometimes your cat may even give you little gifts. Early on, petting is the only interaction available. Keep doing it and more activities will be unlocked over time.

As you spend more time with your cat, it will grow and unlock new poses. You can check all these by open your smartwatch and go to the Pets tab. This page shows your cat's complete profile, including its hunger, energy, characteristics and mood history. You can also rename your cat from here if you want.

As you earn more Cat Caring skill points, you'll unlock extra perks for the hobby. These include new accessories, the ability to adopt more cats and even an automatic feeder for your cats.
