How to beat the one-armed hero Lyle in Code Vein 2

Of Code Vein 2heroes of the past, Lyle is the least approachable. He is indebted to the Dawn Chorus, the mercenary band that rescued him, but is determined never to put them in harm's way, building a stony exterior to keep others at arm's length.

So it's particularly cruel that this isolation left him unable to ask for her, and resulted in the loss of both the Dawn Chorus and his arm, and an incredibly tragic boss fight.

Where do you fight the one-armed hero Lyle?

Lyle's cocoon in Code Vein 2.

When you enter the Corroded Scar region, you enter the Forward Base One area, and Lyle's cocoon sits in the middle of the camp. In fact, you can encounter this incredibly early in the game, although it's not until later that you can actually interact with it.

After you visit Lyle's Era and finish everything there is to see, you are free to seal his cocoon and lay him to rest after a century of suffering.

One Arm Hero Lyle Moveset

The hero Lyle holds his massive sword in Code Vein 2.

Unlike the Lyle you fought alongside before, this version of Lyle is slow, heavy and clumsy. His punches are heavy, though he still has deceptive speed. He also retains the lightning element in all of his attacks.

Here are all the attacks in his two phases:

  • Phase one

    Move

    Description

    Drag Slash

The boss drags his massive sword along the ground and chases you for a short distance before attacking in a swing.

    Heavy Swing Combo

The boss performs slow swings with the weapon that hits quite close to them.

    Delayed oscillations

Like Heavy Swings, the boss performs multiple slashes with long delays, though with greater range.

    Heavy Overhead Slam

The boss rolls back his weapon before slamming it down in front of them.

    Stabbing Dash

The boss points his sword forward before suddenly charging at you. May be followed by a trailing slash.

  • Phase two

    Move

    Description

    Jumping Slime

The boss jumps into the air with all of their weapons before they slam down, causing an electric shock all around them.

    Trio Slash Electric Wave

The boss slashes with each weapon, sending out an electric wave each time. Both the weapon's hit and the electrical wave can cause damage.

    Flashes

The boss stabs his massive sword into the ground, causing a series of lightning to rain down around them and chase you.

Drag Slash + Overhead Down Slash

Opens with the Drag Slash from the first phase, and is immediately followed by the two extra arms that also perform downward slashes.

As such, it is best to dodge to the sides to avoid this attack.

    Double swing and stab

The boss quickly swings all three weapons twice before finishing with a full forward slash with all three. This has a wide scope and reach.

    Sludge and outer slash

The boss performs a downward slash with his upper arms, then slashes outward with both of them. Due to the range, it is best to avoid these attacks.

    Furious Slashes

The boss goes into a storm and attacks wildly with all his attacks while following you. This attack is very hard to consistently dodge or block, so try to avoid his range to escape the bulk of the attack.

    Retreating Spin

The boss performs a spinning slash while moving away from you.

In the first phase, Lyle is relatively simple, lacking flash to his attacks, but still hits hard. In his second phase, he retains all of his older moves, but now has additional hits and the lightning element on them.

How to beat one-armed hero Lyle

The player reaches into Lyle's heart in Code Vein 2.

Phase one

In Lyle's first phase, he's honestly incredibly manageable. He's slow enough that it's easy to react to most of his moves, and he has no ranged abilities and not too many moves that can close the distance. As such, you can safely back off when you need a breather.

Learning the timing of his attacks is the hardest part of the fight as they can have delays on them that are a bit longer than you expect. You can probably sneak into most of them to stay close.

Phase two

In Lyle's second phase, not only is he much faster and more aggressive, he also gains a variety of moves that increase his range, both in terms of his physical strikes and the electrical waves he can fire from a distance. As such, you need to be much more mobile to stay alive.

Unfortunately, most of his attacks are too strong to be deflected, so you'll need to be good at dodging here. Because of this, you'll want at least a medium dodge to be able to avoid his attacks, as even a high balance will be cut through by his attacks.

Keeping your companion out is helpful here to aggro some of Lyle's attacks, like the lightning bolts and, if you're lucky, the Furious Slashes. Having some ranged attacks of your own is helpful here, be it bayonet attacks or magic form, as the speed of Lyle's attacks makes it difficult to stay close to him for long.

After beating him, you will be rewarded with the one-armed hero Lyle Blood Code.
