PlayStation 5 gamers suddenly have a new console exclusive to look forward to, like the developer behind the upcoming indie title 1348 Ex Voto has announced that the Xbox version of the game has been discontinued. While PS5 and PC players will still be able to play 1348 Ex Voto when it releases on March 12, 2026, Xbox players will have to experience the game on another platform.

Italian Indie Game 1348 Ex Voto Cancels Xbox Version, Releases Only on PS5 and PC
As the debut title from Italian indie studio Sedleo, 1348 Ex Voto has the chance to tap into the historical narrative adventure genre that has seen some great entries over the past year. Games like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Ghost of Yotei showcase what AAA developers can produce in this genre, and 1348 EX Voto looks like a cross between the two, albeit with an indie tone. Sedleo's statement on the canceled Xbox version explains the reasoning behind the decision, citing the desire to create the “best possible experience for PlayStation and PC.”
Although it's not exactly clear why PlayStation and PC were chosen over Xbox as the main focus for 1348 Ex Votos development, there have been third-party titles in recent years that have struggled with Xbox releases. Baldur's Gate 3 is a notable example, initially launching on PS5 and PC before coming to Xbox several months later, after it achieved massive success on the other platforms. Part of this delay was due to the fight Larian had received Baldur's Gate 3s split-screen co-op to run on the Xbox Series S, which the game launched on the platform without.
In contrast to Baldur's Gate 3, 1348 Ex Voto is a single-player game, so there's no need for co-op on Xbox Series X/S. However, developer Sedleo is a much smaller studio than that Baldur's Gate 3s Larian, so any development issues for the Xbox may be more difficult to overcome while keeping the game on track for its intended release date. Even with the cancellation of the Xbox version, 1348 Ex Voto is still on schedule to release on March 12 for PS5 and PC.
Xbox players hoping to check out 1348 Ex Voto may be disappointed by this announcement, but there's still a lot to look forward to on the platform in 2026. The recent Xbox Developer Direct 2026 showcased two exciting new single-player adventure games that gamers can look forward to in the coming year. Pokémon developer Game Freak releases its post-apocalyptic game The Beast of Reincarnationwhile the legendary fantasy RPG series Fable finally released this year as well.
On the other hand, 1438 Ex Voto will feel right at home as an exclusive PlayStation 5 console. PS5 is already home to several exclusive historical adventure titles, such as Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost of Yoteias well as story-driven single-player action games that The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Adding some indie representation to this catalog with 1348 Ex Voto will only strengthen the PS5's amazing single player library.
