No rest for the evil sacrament Guide

Sacrament is the very first mission players get to do in No rest for the wickedbut instead of being a simple introduction to the game's hub area, it gives players a taste of what to expect from the entire game itself. This quest throws players straight into Isola Sacra with nothing but rags on their backs and a dream, and considering how confusing No rest for the wicked tends to be, completing this mission can be a bit confusing, especially with the way the map is designed.

Given the open nature of the game's map, we will skip locations that are unnecessary to the progress of the mission unless there is something the players absolutely want.

After the tutorial you will find yourself on a beach. The mission officially begins when you talk to the dying ship captain to the left of the starting zonebut before that, walk due north towards the large pool of gross sewage at the other end of the beach. When you get there, head east and you'll find a path that curves back north. Go through the broken sewer grate to find a hideout containing a chest with random starting loot.

You don't get to choose which items you start with. If you have no weapons, try to parry enemies and go for unarmed backstab attacks.

Go back to the dying captain and then cross the bridge. Go to the edge of the beach to the west to find a ruined tower. Enter it through the broken wall facing the water, then interact with Whisper inside. These act as your fast travel and respawn points.

Head back outside and then head north of the nearby campfire. You will find the entrance to the Mariner's Keep, which is occupied by risen rebels. You will have to fight a lot from here, so stay on your toes and try not to get killed. Dying reduces item durability, and if you die too many times your gear will break.

Many of the side paths in Mariner's Keep can only be accessed through thorough exploration, and they all lead back to the same locations. The door that requires the West Bridge Key cannot be accessed until later.

Clear the farm of enemies and explore for a while. There is another Whisper near the stairs by the large fire. Once you tag it, head east of the bonfire, and you'll find some more enemies and a closed gate. To open it, you need a gate lever, which you can find by rescuing the blacksmith in the nearby mess hall.

Once you beat the enemies near the gate you should be able to find Mess Hall Key by passing through the broken wall to the south. There's a body on the ledge there.

Go back to the fire and then hug the wall at the bottom of the screen. You will eventually find the door leading to the mess hall, where blacksmith Fillmore is harassed by bandits. Take out the bandits and then talk to Fillmore to get the gate handle.

To use the gate handle, go back outside and then use the nearby cart to reach the catwalk along the north wall. Follow the path east and you'll find the gate lever opening.

Filmore sells a lot of stuff, and he'll buy some of yours, too. Talk to him to get a better starting weapon No rest for the wicked.

Orban Glades

Push past the now opened gate and fight the enemies there. You will soon come to an extended bridge that prevents you from crossing. Take the nearby elevator up to reach a tower connected to the other side. Clear out the two enemies at the top, then continue east. You'll find Lara and Reed resting by a nearby campfire. Talk to the NPCs and then kick down the bridge until later.

After clearing the way, follow the path east to reach another Whisper. From here you have three options:

  • Head up the mountain path near the campfire where you met Lara and Reed to find more enemies to fight and loot to grab.

  • Go down south of Whisper and climb up a vine wall to find even more enemies and loot.

  • Follow the path east to fight the first boss of the game.

Chests and item pickups will eventually update, and they will always be random. Don't worry about missing any chests on your way to the boss, like

We recommend clearing both side paths for loot and XP. The first boss can be quite intimidating, and if you find yourself dying to him often, you'll definitely want extra loot and stats. The hidden path to the south also leads to a small shrine-like area with lots of cooking ingredients for healing items.

Warrick the Thorn

Warrick is an aggressive boss who wields a giant sword. He will try to get into your personal space as much as possible, so you need to watch your positioning. You can fall to your death if you dodge or go outside the arena, and if you're playing co-op, always be aware of friendly fire.

Thankfully, Warrick's attacks are slow, and he's very easy to parry. Overall, he's not that special of a boss – just dodge and counterattack, and try not to die. Beating Warrick has a chance to drop the Corpse Smearing Blade, a unique two-handed sword with a full suite of runes and some special enchantments as well.

If you want to get better at parrying No rest for the wicked, practice hitting the parry button at the exact same time as your enemy's attack hits you.

Finding the Rookery

After beating Warrick, you must go to the Rookery, which is the large tower that watches over the city of Sacrament. It's at the top of town, so if you ever get lost, go where the stairs leading up are. The guards will also point you in the right direction.

When you get to the Rookery, talk to Roan and the Watcher. This ends the mission and sets the stage for the rest of the game.
