Top 5 Dragon Ball Super Characters That Can Replace God Of Destruction Beerus, Ranked

Nothing lasts forever, not even divinity, apparently. Being a god of destruction is one of the most prestigious jobs in the Dragon Ball Super. The Gods of Destruction get to decide who lives and who dies in their universe, evaluate planets based on their potential, and wipe out worlds that lower their multifaceted ranking. Because as powerful as he is, Beerus isn't the best god of destruction as far as his career goes.

The Official 10 Strongest Dragon Ball Super Forms, Ranked

Dragon Ball Super's power scaling means the series' forms are leagues stronger than anything seen in Dragon Ball Z, and only getting stronger.

Beerus is lazy, brash and makes his decisions primarily based on how tasty a planet's cuisine is. Interestingly, it has been hinted at several times Dragon Ball Super that the role of God of Destruction is not a permanent gig. Both Beerus and Whis have mentioned finding a successor for when Beerus eventually retires (or dies). Between Goku, Vegeta and most recently Gohan, Beerus has quite a few options to take over as Dragon Ball SuperChief God of Destruction.

Gohan has the power to succeed Beerus, but not the attitude

From Dragon Ball Super: Super HeroGohan Beast is currently the second strongest mortal in the series, after Black Frieza. IN Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103, Gohan visits Beerus' Planet and ends up sparring with Ultra Instinct Goku. During the fight, Gohan Beast does so well that Whis mentions the possibility of Gohan becoming the next God of Destruction of Universe 7. While Beerus reluctantly acknowledges Gohan's power, he does not consider him a worthy successor due to his stern personality.

Despite some violent outbursts during his childhood, Gohan has calmed down considerably as an adult. He's a family man through and through, and by far the most career-oriented character in the Dragon Ballworking a fairly traditional job as a researcher. Becoming a god of destruction doesn't really suit Gohan and wouldn't make him happy, although his sound judgment and work ethic would undoubtedly make him an excellent candidate to replace Beerus.

Goku becoming a God of Destruction would bring Dragon Ball Super Full Circle

Dragon Ball Super started with Goku and Beerus, and will more than likely end with Goku and Beerus. Everything throughout DBSBeerus has been the benchmark that Goku has strived to surpass, always falling a step behind even as he unlocks transformation after transformation. As the first mortal in history to push Beerus to use more than just a fraction of his power, there is a considerable amount of respect between Beerus and Goku.

Ultra Ego Vegeta, Super Saiyan Gogeta and Black Frieza in Dragon Ball Super

5 Dragon Ball Super Characters Stronger Than Ultra Instinct Goku

As of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Ultra Instinct Goku is weaker than his rival, his son, and even the series' next main villain.

It would make sense on paper for Beerus to make Goku the next God of Destruction, and this development has been teased a number of times throughout Dragon Ball Super. That said, Goku goes a completely different route. In and of itself, Ultra Instinct shows that Goku is closer to an angel than he is to a god of destruction. Goku has been the last arc to develop Whi's teachings, unlike Beerus, and raw destruction just doesn't fit who Goku is as a character.

Broly's potential makes him a perfect candidate for the God of Destruction

Broly is chaos and destruction personified. In his legendary Super Saiyan form, Broly fights by pure animal instinct. LSSJ Broly is so powerful that he was able to defeat Goku, Vegeta and Frieza in Dragon Ball Super: BrolyGoku & Vegeta had to fuse into Gogeta just to have a chance, and had to instantly transform into Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta to actually beat Broly for good.

With a little more training, Broly will eventually be able to control his legendary Super Saiyan transformation, making him a perfect candidate as the God of Destruction. The main problem with Broly being Beerus' successor is twofold: he still has a long way to go before he'll be able to transform into legendary Super Saiyan at will, and he's dumb as a stump. Broly honestly makes Goku look like Bulma in terms of smarts – he probably wouldn't have the best judgment when it comes to sparing and destroying planets. Sure, neither did Beerus.

Vegeta is Beerus' apprentice and is currently becoming a god of destruction

Starting with the Granolah Saga, Goku and Vegeta begin to go down very different paths in their respective trainings. While Goku embraces Whi's angelic training to fully master Ultra Instinct, Vegeta realizes that UI would not suit him and begins training exclusively with Beerus, studying his destructive powers to the fullest. As a sign of Vegeta's growth, Beerus even gives Vegeta a God of Destruction earring, which Vegeta wears for the rest of the arc.

7 Dragon Ball Super Characters Stronger Than Ultra Ego Vegeta

Ultra Ego Vegeta may be stronger than Ultra Instinct Goku (for now), but he's hardly the strongest character in Dragon Ball Super.

While fighting Granolah, Vegeta unlocks his own unique form: Ultra Ego. Ultra Ego Vegeta is basically a god of destruction in all but name. Channeling pure destructive power, Ultra Ego Vegeta grows stronger throughout the battle, channeling any damage he takes into a higher level of power. Vegeta's major drawback right now is that he can't control Ultra Ego very well, but with a little more training he'll make a perfect replacement for Beerus and already has a personality that lends itself to calculated destruction.

Becoming Universe 7's next God of Destruction is the perfect job for Frieza

The only character better suited to replace Beerus than Vegeta is Frieza: the strongest league of death in Dragon Ball Super. At the end of the Granolah Saga, Frieza comes up with a new transformation and effortlessly defeats Gas, Goku and Vegeta without breaking a sweat. Black Frieza is the most powerful transformation in DBS right now, and none of the main characters even come close to catching up to him at the end of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.

Once the Black Frieza Saga begins, the Z-Fighters face an uphill battle unlike any other. If worse comes to worse, the best way to calm Frieza down might be for Beerus to offer him the role of God of Destruction. While Frieza becoming a God of Destruction sounds dangerous on paper, all in Dragon Ball implies that Frieza is actually a good employer and takes his job as galactic tyrant seriously, with professional decorum. To keep Universe 7's multiversal status high and in good esteem for Zeno, Frieza would actually do an excellent job of being a God. He just needs to keep his prejudices in check.
