2018 PS4 RPG is getting remastered for PS5

A leaker has claimed Kingdom Come: Deliverancerumored PlayStation 5 the upgrade will arrive sometime in February 2026. Despite being released over seven years ago, the beloved RPG has yet to receive a native current-gen version, although fans have been speculating about such an update for some time now. The PS5 edition of the KCD may still lack official confirmation, but signs seem to point to good news soon.

Warhorse Studios has had a big year. While Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 lost all three of its Game Awards nominations to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33it was still one of the most popular and well-received games in 2025. Its predecessor holds an equally fond place in the hearts of many fans, although it did not receive the same level of attention, but that may change in the new year. Now Warhorse has finished KCD2it's unclear exactly what's next for the studio, but a modernized version of the first Kingdom Come the game may well be in the cards.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance could get a PS5 version in February 2026

Back in 2024, a Redditor named bertik11 claimed Kingdom Come: Deliverance was set to receive a current-gen version in early 2026, and now they've returned to provide more insight into the rumor. While the leaker initially offered a January to April release window for the PS5 edition, they've now narrowed it down to February, but they've also warned fans not to expect too much. According to bertik11, the “remaster” is essentially a port of the PC version of the game. If so, the PS5 edition of the KCD wouldn't offer any major graphical improvements, but it would likely support frame rates up to 60FPS and come with some texture and sound quality upgrades that have since been released as DLC for the PC version.

A February 2026 release window would make sense for a new version of the game, which Kingdom Come: Deliverance turns eight years old that month. The leaker also suggested that Warhorse Studios may release the upgrade, responding to other users in the comments that the studio has been targeting a February release for months now but hasn't made an announcement, which could mean it's planning a surprise launch. It's worth noting that Warhorse himself has teased KCD PS5 upgrade by replying to a tweet about the rumored port with the eye emoji. While that doesn't necessarily mean an update to the current generation is imminent, it seems highly suspect in light of the timing and surrounding rumors.

The leaker made no mention of pricing, but many Redditors speculated that the PS5 version of the KCD may be free for those who already own the PS4 edition. That's what Rockstar did when they announced the original Red Dead Redemption received an upgrade to the current generation, although there were some technical issues in the release of the free update. It would also make sense if the new version is just a modernized port and not a full remaster. But without any official word from Warhorse, it's impossible to say anything beyond doubt.

Given the Warhorses tease earlier in December and that bertik11 correctly leaked Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2s delay in the past, it seems the PS5 upgrade is likely. If things work out as they appear to, it could be a nice way to celebrate the franchise right now KCD2 has captured the attention of a larger fan base. A native PS5 version could also help stretch out the current console generation amid fears that the RAM shortage could delay the PS6 and next-gen Xbox. Either way, fans probably won't have to wait long to find out more.
