This article contains spoilers from Naruto.
When it comes to the most popular anime series worldwide, Naruto will always be up there with the very best. Naruto is one of the biggest anime series that played a significant role in making this form of media more mainstream. Along with One Piece and Bleach, it was part of the Big Three, and it could be said that in the West, Naruto had the most influence of the three until its end.
Shonen Jump finally has its Naruto replacement, and it's not Boruto
Naruto was legendary, and its true replacement is here.
Even almost 9 years after its conclusion, Naruto is still talked about the way it was when it aired. This anime series is absolutely brilliant, loved by people of all ages, whether young or old. While it has ended, The Naruto series still has a lot of potential. The main story of Naruto ended almost a decade ago, but fans know that it continues with Boruto to this day.
Boruto has unfortunately not had the desired impact and is largely seen as a failure of a sequel by most fans. Still, The world of Naruto has a lot of potential, and after about 9 years after its end, it's time for Naruto to return with a worthy anime.
Naruto has been absent from the Anime scene for too long

Naruto Anime deserves a proper comeback

A new series can be played during the empty period
The Naruto series by Masashi Kishimoto ended in 2014 and the anime followed just a few years later in 2017. Shortly after, the Boruto series began, and as fans already know, it didn't have the desired effect, running for a few years before being put on hold by Studio Pierrot. Since then, the entire franchise has been absent from the anime scene, and that's quite a shame. Naruto has huge potential, and it is one of the most popular anime series in the entire world. In comparison, even Dragon Ball had its own return with Daima earlier in 2024.
You don't understand anything. Because you are no ordinary shinobi. You are even slightly different from the Jinchuriki, the ones that host the Bijuu within them. You're human, and yet, if anything, you're more like me and Jura. — Kurama to Himawari Uzumaki in Boruto
Naruto has too much potential to sit on the sidelines and not provide fans with new content. It is incredibly profitable for Shueisha, as well as for Studio Pierrot. At the same time, fans also know that it's a brilliant story that still has tons of potential, given the massive world that Kishimoto created.
Naruto's return would be a win for both fans and those also responsible for making the anime. One thing fans want is for Naruto to get his new standalone anime series. While Boruto is awesome and will likely return at some point with the adaptation of Two Blue Vortex, fans would rather get a new Naruto anime.
Naruto deserves a new anime to replace Boruto
While the Boruto series has certainly been exciting in parts, the way it has handled the old cast of Naruto is nothing short of disgraceful. Boruto has failed as a sequel to Narutoalthough it does some things very well. The amount of disrespect the series has shown to both Naruto and Sasuke, and how it has practically ignored 90% of the old Naruto cast, just shows that it really isn't worthy of being the true successor to Naruto. Most Naruto fans recognize this, while appreciating the things it has done with the new generation.
This is not a story about a boy aiming to become Hokage. That was my dad's story. This is none other than my story! — Boruto Uzumaki, Boruto Chapter 1
Of course, as a standalone series, Boruto would still be an exciting watch for any anime fan. But as a sequel to Naruto, there are many things it fails to accomplish, and that's why Naruto deserves a new standalone anime. When it comes to a Naruto anime, there are two approaches that can be taken. The first is a new anime series set after the events of Naruto Shippuden.
Say goodbye to Naruto Uzumaki and welcome the new strongest character in Boruto
Naruto Uzumaki is powerful, but there is a stronger ninja in Boruto now.
This would work pretty easily since there is a giant time jump between the end of Shippuden and the beginning of Boruto.
With over 10 years in between, a new Naruto anime could easily fit here. The other approach would be to remake the Naruto anime from scratch, which is also an exciting option.
A Naruto sequel would be the best case scenario
Naruto may come back with a brand new series
The best case scenario for all Naruto fans would be the series getting a new anime with Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura and Kakashi as the main characters again. This would mean that the series would go back to the end of Naruto Shippuden and continue from there. Between the end of Shippuden and the beginning of Boruto, there is roughly a decade known as the Blank Period. Fans don't know what happened during this time period and how Naruto, Sasuke and everyone else grew.
There were certainly powerful enemies for them to face during this time as well, and that's something that could be explored in the new Boruto series. Kishimoto could also get involved in this and bring some exciting new ideas to Studio Pierrot, so they can create a phenomenal series of powerful enemies for Naruto and Sasuke that fans would appreciate. In some ways, this could be very similar to Dragon Ball Super. As fans know, Dragon Ball continued its journey after the main manga ended, with Toriyama's involvement on the side. Super certainly wasn't as good as the original Dragon Ball, but it was still a lot of fun and remains iconic to this day. Naruto could do something similar with a new anime series if Kishimoto is willing to get involved again.
Naruto could also get an anime remake Like One Piece
The other approach would be for Naruto to get an anime remake, similar to One Piece. At this point the Naruto anime is very old. It started running in 2003, making it 23 years old at the moment. It's also loaded with filler, with about half of the series being filler, which is really an inconvenience for fans. There are also episodes with poor animation, and the sound design is obviously dated.
A new Naruto remake anime would be absolutely brilliant and fans know it was teased for the 20th anniversarywhere a clip of a newer animation style for Naruto was revealed. One Piece, a rival series to Naruto, is getting its own anime remake by WIT Studioat some unknown time. Work on it has been going on, and if One Piece gets such a treatment, then fans know Naruto deserves it too. A new Naruto anime would reignite all interest in the franchise and take it to new levels. Fans know very well that they deserve the best version of Naruto, and while the old one still has its charm, it would be fun to see a new approach to this story by a younger anime staff that fans will definitely enjoy.
