Diablo 4 players want PvP to make a comeback, but with some big changes

Diablo 4 players online are urging Blizzard to give PvP battles some attention in the future, giving the mode a chance to gain popularity among the player base. As it stands, PvP is pretty much dead content Diablo 4but the players see untapped potential that Blizzard can try to use in the future.

PvP was part of Diablo 4 at launch over two years ago. Players can enter Hatfields, designated locations where they can attack other players. It's an opt-in experience and players must mark themselves as “bloodmarked” before they can attack others. However, those who are not marked can still be attacked by bloodmarked players, leading to some confusion among players. There are certain cosmetics that are exclusively earned by participating in PvP battles Diablo 4which means there are always some players who want to play. However, PvP has been largely neglected by Blizzard since launch, and as a result, most players never get to experience it. This is a vicious circle, one that some Diablo 4 players want to see end.

With the release of Paladin in Diablo 4 Season 11, Necromancer has suddenly fallen behind the curve when it comes to a meta build.

Diablo 4 PvP needs some big changes for a real comeback

On Reddit, a thread started by user Fat_Foot expressed confusion about the condition Diablo 4 PvP. They brought up the fact that they are Paragon Level 200, and their Toughness stat is over 800,000. They are a character that can clear The Pit at level 100, solo. However, when they hit a marked player in PvP zones, they are shot instantly with no chance to react. In the thread they ask: “So where's the fun anyway?” Others responded by pointing out that PvP has never been balanced Diablo 4and the fact that players can deal trillions of damage to enemies means that even the most overpowered Diablo 4 build will die instantly for any endgame character that hits first. As one user notes, “players can't get enough hp for meaningful combat”, so they simply don't bother playing it in the first place.

While some in the thread considered it a lost cause, others had a little more hope, with one user noting that “other games have solved this problem, it just needs work.” Many considered its addition to Diablo 4 in the first place was simply so players didn't spend the next few months and years begging for it, which likely would have happened if PvP wasn't included. Sometimes the idea is better than the reality.

Another thread shared disappointment that Blizzard didn't commit to any PvP changes and additions Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred expansion, with user SpaceXSmoke hoping the developer would expand the mode for players who enjoyed it in the Diablo 2 and Immortal. This was a sentiment expressed in the other thread as well. Players want to see more from PvP Diablo 4. The main roadblock is whether Blizzard is willing to commit to the extensive balancing efforts that would be required to make it work, rather than being dead on arrival. At the moment, it does not appear that this is the case, although this could always change in the future.

As it stands, Blizzard's focus right now is on Diablo 4 Season 11, proving to be a hit with players thanks to Divine Gifts, Sanctification and the new Paladin class. There's still even more to come from Season 11, too. Earlier this month, Blizzard delayed Diablo 4s Tower and leaderboards features until later in the season, but they are still expected to arrive before Season 12 in March.
