It may seem almost too strange to believe, but Rainbow Six Siege goes over with hit anime Attack on Titan. Tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege and dark fantasy anime Attack on Titan might not strike fans as having much in common, and the playerbase seems to have a seriously mixed reaction to the reveal.
Fixed Attack on Titans original manga ended in 2021 and the anime in 2023, the series has had a huge hold on fans. Attack on Titan created an exciting world, and while the anime and manga ended the story of most of the characters that fans came to know and love, the series hasn't disappeared from pop culture. Part of what's kept it at the forefront of fans' minds has been a steady stream of crossovers, and now Rainbow Six Siege joins the list.
Attack On Titan: Each main character's age, height and birthday
Attack On Titan is one of the most famous anime series of the last decade. Here are some basic details fans should know about the main characters.
Rainbow Six Siege and Attack on Titan collide in Collab
Ubisoft's tactical shooter revealed one Attack on Titan collaboration lands on Christmas Eve. The crossover features two premium cosmetic bundles that give Amaru a set based on Mikasa Ackerman, while Oryx gets one based on the Armored Titan. A video teaser shows the suits on their operators in action, with Amaru using her Garra Hook to rappel up and over walls, similar to how Mikasa used the omni-directional mobility gear that the anime's Titan fighting squads were equipped with. Oryx, on the other hand, immediately crashes through a wall at the start of the video, similar to the Armored Titan's original appearance in Attack on Titan franchise, where it helped break up the walls surrounding the city.
The two packs each include headgear, uniform, coat of arms, operator card portrait and universal weapon charm. Oryx gets the Titanic Demolisher skin for his T-5 SMG, while Amaru gets the Trusted Woodgrain skin for the G8A1. Each pack can be acquired individually for 2,160 R6 Credits, or together with a small discount for 4,080 R6 Credits. The release is out now, but players who aren't ready to buy right now don't need to worry, as they are permanent packs in store.
Rainbow Six Siege and Attack on Titan Fans React
As you might expect, there has been plenty of response to this collaboration, which was rumored to happen a while in advance. Some outspoken fans of both franchises are pretty excited about the collaboration, as it combines two of their favorite things, but others have been more critical of it. Some Rainbow Six Siege players have lamented the loss of the game's core visual identity, reflecting on the days when it was more of a strictly tactical shooter without many collaborations with other properties. Others have complained about the characters chosen for the crossover, feeling that other operators might be a better fit, but most have noted that Amaru and Oryx were likely chosen for their tools and fighting styles, rather than their looks.
To be fair, the complaints from Rainbow Six Siege community in watering down the game's visual identity or breaking some of its realism is also reflected in other game fandoms. Call of Duty received much disapproval for its wide range of cosmetics, including some that changed the game's stylistic qualities by introducing playable characters such as Beavis and Butt-Head. Some have also complained about the frequent crossovers in recent history with games like Magic: The Gathering and even Fatal Fury: City of the Wolveswhich features the real soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo. Of course, other games have used crossovers as arguably some of their greatest strengths, such as Fortnite or Super Smash Bros. There's no way to make everyone happy, unfortunately, and it doesn't seem like the trend is going away.
