When live service games go, Where winds meet is generally quite generous. There's a battle pass, and there's cosmetic gacha systems, some of which can only be pulled off with real money, but beyond those it doesn't really interfere with any aspect of the game.
Including, fascinatingly, the building system. You can, to your heart's content, just start building things, from simple decorations to spruce up the environment, to entire buildings you can live in. How extensive is this system? More than you might think.
What is construction?
Construction is exactly what it sounds like. You make a bunch of parts, and then you place them. There's a whole dedicated button for it so you can bring it up whenever you want. And there are quite a few pieces to choose from, with the game neatly separating them by category.
Construction is a purely cosmetic systemso there won't strictly be any purpose to any of the items you place, but sometimes aesthetics are enough, right?
For now at least. Judging by the current Chinese version of the game, Construction will be greatly expanded in the future, allowing you to build in larger spaces, engage in gardening, and even hire NPCs to tend your land.
Placing items is a completely free action, allows you to place any item you have without limitation. Even after placing an item, you can recycle it to return it to your inventory without losing anything. So don't be afraid to play with your creations, you literally have nothing to lose.
That said, crafting items costs two different things – Endurance and resources. There are two primary resources, raw ore and wood, with larger structures requiring a larger amount. Stamina is used exclusively in crafting, both for food items and construction, but is automatically replenished daily.
That said, most construction items only take a single point of stamina, so you can craft up to 500 pieces a day before running out of stamina.

Basic functions
The construction is quite simple. You just open the construction mode, select the item you want to place either from your bag or quick bar and place it. You can rotate it tooand change its various forms, for example the angle of a ladder.
However, there is some useful extras here too, as:
- Recycling – This allows you to remove any items you have placed and return them to your inventory, without losing or costing anything.
- Extraction – This allows you to mark any placed item and immediately place another, provided you have one in your inventory or the materials to craft another.
- Drawings – This allows you to place entire patterns in the world before deciding on any material for it, both to give you a feel for how something should look and to help you easily build more advanced structures.
- Quick Bar – This is a hot bar with all your favorite items that you use most often in the construction mode. This comes pre-loaded by default, but you can choose exactly what you want in it by selecting new items from the bag.
Build yourself
Building it yourself is easy. Just select an item and place it. If you already have the item in your inventory, you place it. If not, it will automatically be created when you place it.
When you choose an item you can craft, an asterisk will appear next to it to indicate that you do not currently have itwith the number showing how many materials you have to create.
Most objects move freely, but some objects will do so when placed near others try to snap into place. For example, objects such as walls, windows, doors, and ceilings will be snapped at an angle to help you fit the pieces together more easily.
Build From Drawings
If you don't really have the head or time for it, you can also build from diagrams. This will place an outline of the building in the world for you, giving you a sense of scale for the building in question.
However, drawings are not built completely automatically. Rather, you have to approach each individual component and build it. You can also click on the diagram as a whole to auto-complete it, but you should make sure you have enough materials to do so unless you want a rather ugly house with no walls and no floor.
You can also check each individual part included in a drawing after it has been placed, as well as the total number.
Can you build anywhere?
It's the best – yes. With a few exceptions, such as interiors such as caves and dungeons, and larger cities such as Kaifeng and Blissful Retreat, you can build almost anywhere.
You need space and you can't let items you build get in the way of other pre-existing items in the world, plus the ground must be sufficiently flat for items to be placed, although it is relatively generous in that regard. But yes, you can build anywhere. It's hilariously free form.
helpful, you can also place ladders anywheremaking it much easier to scale oddly shaped and particularly tall buildings.
Are your structures permanent?
That's the other fun part. Yes, everything you build is permanent. It won't show up in online mode, so you usually can't see the structures of other players either. Death Stranding this is not.
But even if you travel far away, quit the game and come back, or something else, your builds will remain. You always have your home to come back to.
Where to buy building materials
Now, this whole building might be great fun, but it doesn't come for free. You need building materialswhich is basically exclusively Wood and raw ore. Most items don't need a lot of them, but when you build large structures, the amount you need will skyrocket in no time.
Both items can be purchased from merchantsalthough they can also be found in the world. You can even use Material tracking feature to mark them on the map, making it easier to track them. You will get less this way and it will take much more time, but you will save money and can collect more than the daily stock of what the merchant offers.
For wood, you can find this in the world through cut down certain types of trees. For Raw Ore, you can find it from various ore deposits and stones around the world, such as dark colored and green colored stones.
