Fortnite adds SpongeBob SquarePants as a sidekick

Just when you thought Fortnite was done with IP collaborations, the part live-service battle royale, part Metaverse is flipping, revealing that SpongeBob SquarePants is coming to Epic Games' endless world of mischief and mayhem.

Over in the Fortnite merchandise store, there are a number of SpongeBob-themed items available, including SpongeBob himself, but only as a Sidekick, meaning you won't be able to blast everyone away and giggle afterwards.

There's SpongeBob himself, a DoodleBob backbling, Kicks with Gary on them, a Golden Spatel Pickaxe, and more importantly, the iconic Jellyfish Jam dance is also available.

If that wasn't enough, you can also buy Sweet Victory for Fortnite Jam. And if you're short on instruments, there's the iconic glittery Goofy Goober guitar to pair with Sweet Victory.

Basically, it's a SpongeBob fan's dream come true. Except, we sure hope you have a better job than working at the Krusty Krab to afford all of this, because, boy, is it expensive.

Epic Games has delivered one of Fortnite's best live events to date with the amazing Zero Hour.

For starters, the SpongeBob SquarePants pack, which features SpongeBob himself, plus Sweet Victory, both pairs of Kicks (SpongeBob and Gary), both emotes, DoodleBob Backbling, Golden Spatula Pickaxe, Goofy Goober Guitar, and matching drum kit will net you a whopping 3,000 V-Bucks.

What it doesn't come with are Patrick-themed Crocs, which are 1,000 V-Bucks, or Squidward-themed Crocs, which also run for the same amount of digital currency. It also doesn't come with the Patty Wagon, the iconic vehicle from SpongeBob lore that gives you an additional 2,000 V-Bucks.

Our math skills are extremely rusty at the moment, but if you add it all up, that's 7,000 V-Bucks for everything. Or, and this is a big or 7700 if you want matching boost or trail.

That's a lot, especially considering that SpongeBob isn't a skin, or that the other members of Bikini Bottom aren't part of it.
