One Piece Luffy's most OP moment

Monkey D. Luffy is the charismatic leader of the Straw Hat Pirates. Despite his size, Luffy's dreams dwarf the giants themselves. He wants to become the Pirate King, a feat previously accomplished by the legendary Gol D. Roger. Luffy is much younger than Roger was when the latter wanted to become the Pirate King. However, Luffy's age has never been a problem for him, as he has defeated opponents such as Kaido, Doflamingo, Cracker, and Katakuri, all of whom were more experienced.

One Piece: 9 Characters Luffy Hates The Most

It's not easy for Luffy to truly hate someone, but if they push him far enough and hurt his friends and family, it's all game off.

Throughout his adventures, Luffy has almost always defied the odds to produce some of the most iconic moments in One Piece. Since there are so many iconic Luffy moments, it can be hard to pick just one.

This post contains spoilers for One Piece.

Slay a celestial dragon

Showed his hatred of oppressors

Luffy beats a celestial dragon

In the Sabaody Archipelago arc, Luffy and the Straw Hats witnessed the horrors committed by the Celestial Dragons. When they were inside the Auction House, Saint. Charlos saw Hachi, a Fish-Man, and he was disgusted by him. So he did what any Heavenly Dragon would do in the situation and took out his gun to shoot Hachi.

When the Heavenly Dragon finally fired Hachi celebrated. This enraged Luffy, after which he began a slow walk towards Charlos. The people in the auction house could clearly sense that Luffy was going to do something, but they never expected him to beat a Heavenly Dragon. Luffy's punch was not only a symbol of his friendship, but also of rebellion and that too against the most powerful people in the world.

Puts his hat on Nami

A sign of his love for his crewmates

Luffy puts his hat on nami

Nami and Luffy have always been close. In fact, they resemble a normal brother-sister relationship. This wasn't always the case though, as Nami hated pirates, and who could blame her after what Arlong did to her family and home? Not long after the Straw Hats had taken down Don Kreig and his minions, they learned of Nami's disappearance. After brainstorming, they figured out that Nami must have made it to Arlong's hideout.

Nami had Arlong's Jolly Roger tattooed on her left shoulder, which served as a constant reminder of her struggle. When she finally had a breakdown, she started knitting her shoulder tattoo. Before it could get any worse, Luffy stopped her and put his straw hat on her head. The incident shows how much he valued his crewmates, as he was willing to part with his beloved hat. Also, it proved that Luffy would go to extremes if someone made his crewmates cry.

Breaks the mirror throughout the Cake Island Arc

Showed Luffy's confidence in his abilities

Luffy smashes the mirror all over Cake Island

The Whole Cake Island was a big test for Luffy and his crew. Not only were they infiltrating a Yonko's territory, but they were split into two groups. One remained in Zou, while the other headed to Whole Cake Island to rescue Sanji. Luffy knew that Sanji wouldn't have left the crew without a proper reason, so he decided to track him down.

Throughout the arc, Luffy faced various challenges, but none of them were as difficult as beating Charlotte Katakuri, the strongest Sweet Commander. The fight between the two took place inside the Mirror World. When they both entered the place, Luffy broke the only mirror leading out of the Mirror World because he didn't want the villain to go after his crew.

Using Conqueror's Haki to knock out people in Marineford

A symbol of Luffy's unwavering determination

Luffy Conqueror's Haki in Marineford

The Marineford arc was one filled with high-octane battles, and it was because the Marines decided to execute Portgas D. Ace, one of Whitebeard's top commanders. When Luffy learned of Ace's execution, he rushed to Impel Down and then Marineford.

8 Strongest One Piece Characters Who Have Never Battled Luffy

For one reason or another, Luffy has never engaged in a major battle with these characters in One Piece.

While on the island, Luffy did his best to fight the villains. But many of them were superior to him in strength. Moreover, they also had the numerical advantage, so things continued to get worse, and at one point it looked like Ace was going to die. Luffy wasn't going to let that happen though. So he channeled his emotions and screamed at the top of his lungs for the executioners to stop, resulting in the release of powerful Conqueror's Haki that knocked them out. The best part about the incident is that Luffy couldn't even control the Conqueror's Haki, and it happened unknowingly.

Defeat Bellamy with a single blow

Proved how much Luffy cares about dreams

Luffy punches Bellamy

Bellamy was a callous brute who picked on people who were weaker than him. He even terrorized Masira, Shoujou, and Mont Blanc Cricket, who were all big dreamers. Not only did Bellamy take their gold, but he mocked their dreams, which definitely didn't sit well with Luffy.

When Luffy returned to Mock Town to face Bellamy, he was in no mood to fool around. Bellamy landed a few hits, but Luffy was more or less unfazed by them. Bellamy even tried to use his special attack, but Luffy defeated him with a single punch. What further enraged Luffy was Bellamy making fun of other people's dreams.

Refusing to submit to Rob Lucci

An indication of Luffy's incredible resilience

Rob Lucci debuted in the Water 7 arc, where he attacked the Straw Hat Pirates and took out Nico Robin. Luffy tried to stop him, but the CP9 agent easily overpowered him.

After being beaten by Lucci, Luffy realized that he could not win with his current skill. So he brought two Gears to defeat Lucci. Later in Enie's Lobby arc, the pirate fought Lucci again, and this time he gave the CP9 agent a run for his money. Towards the end, Lucci took the upper hand and began to dominate the fight. He punched Luffy several times, but the latter refused to fall on his back. Luffy continued to stand until he dealt Lucci the final blow and won the fight.

Luffy uses Gear 5th for the first time

Defeated a Yonko using his gravel

Gear 5 Luffy and Kaido from One Piece fight

Luffy's fight against Kaido was nothing short of amazing. Since the young pirate was going up against the strongest creature in the world, it was obvious that he needed a serious power-up.

When Kaido punched a distracted Luffy, it looked like it was curtains for the latter, but it was actually the opposite. The battle led to Luffy awakening his Devil Fruit and using Gear 5th for the first time. As a result of the new ability, Luffy swung the pendulum in his favor and defeated Kaido.
