Magic: The Gathering has revealed a bunch of new cards from its Marvel Super Heroes Universes Beyond set. Featuring the likes of Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow and other Avengers, this set will be released in June 2026 to coincide with the release of Avengers: Doomsday. Speaking of which, there sure are a lot of Doctor Doom cards.
Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom will play a big role in the future of the MCU, so it makes sense that the set will include various cards featuring the villain and some of his iconic moments. But what we didn't expect was a card referencing his hilarious Horn of Greed “toot” moment from the old comics, which has since become a meme.
Doctor Doom features heavily in MTG's latest universe Beyond Set
It's not just the heroes who shine in the new cards, but many villains as well. Baron Zemo, Kang the Conqueror, Super-Skrull, and even Galactus are in this preview, but none of them are a match for Doctor Doom, who got four cards all to himself. The cards not only feature original art and comic covers, but also some famous comic panels.
The Horn of Greed card is arguably the funniest, with a Golden Age Doom blowing a horn with the “toot” sound effect, while saying “Fool! Doctor Doom do as he pleases!” to a pleading Namor. Some of the other panel cards include the Fantastic Four against Galactus and the Avengers battling Loki, but none of them are as famous as the Doom toot.
Magic: The Gathering might tempt me to return, even if I don't like the universe beyond
Everything in moderation.
It's obvious that MTG wants to feature Doom a lot due to him being the MCU's new big-bad. The Fantastic Four also has a lot, with each getting their own card as well as a couple with all four. There are also some relatively unknown characters like Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.
