Back in the late 2010s, Twitch would sometimes offer a free game or two in December to Twitch Prime subscribers, which they could keep even after their Prime subscription expired. In December 2018, the number of free games increased to four, and then Amazon had renamed the service Prime Gaming in 2020, that number had increased to nine.
Now spread across the month, Amazon Prime Gaming has continued to offer around eight free games every December. That is until December 2024, when a total of 18 free games were released during the holiday season, a line-up that included the likes of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, Overcooked! 2, Tomb Raider Underworld, Dredgeand Predator: Hunting Grounds. While Amazon Prime Gaming's December 2025 free games lineup is slightly smaller than last year's, there are still some great titles on offer, some of which seem to appeal to two very specific audiences.

Amazon Prime Gaming's free games for December are released just in time for Fallout Season 2
Fallout 1 and 2 will be available for free with Amazon Prime Gaming on December 23rd
- Fall-out (Available December 23)
- Fallout 2 (Available December 23)
Premiering back in April 2024, Amazon's Fall-out the show was a huge hit with critics and fans alike, not only garnering 65 million views in its first 16 days, but also led to a huge surge in popularity for the video games that directly inspired it. Even if Fall-out the show takes a lot of inspiration from Bethesda's entries in the post-apocalyptic franchise, Fall-out Season 1 also featured plenty of references to the original Interplay Fall-out game that started it all. The town of Shady Sands, for example, made its debut in the very first Fall-out way back in 1997, and it was the first city most players reach after leaving Vault 13.
On December 23rd, those who subscribe to Amazon Prime Gaming will be able to claim the first two Fall-out games for free. These freebies land just a few days after Fall-out Season 2 premieres on December 17, giving fans caught up in the hype the perfect opportunity to go back and experience the full Fall-out franchise from the very beginning while waiting for weekly episodes.
Although the isometric RPG of Fall-out and Fallout 2 feels very different from Bethesda's modern first-person entries, the series' trademark dark humor and over-the-top characters are still in full force. And about Fall-out Season 2 is much like the first, fans playing the original Fall-out game will likely be rewarded with some easter eggs and references once the season has reached its end in February.
