A listing for the Deluxe Edition of Resident Evil Requiem may have accidentally revealed that Rose will be playable in an expansion for the game called “The Sanctuary”.
Even before Resident Evil Requiem was officially announced, fans have been wondering if we would end up seeing Leon Kennedy as a playable character, as he was mentioned in the first leaks for RE9. That question has remained the biggest surrounding the game since it was announced, with Grace Ashcroft being the only confirmed character so far.
While it is very likely that Leon will be in the game based on all the rumors about him, Capcom has been very quiet about what to expect and even fought back against the claims. While we're still waiting for Leon's reveal, it looks like Requiem may be hiding an even more surprising playable appearance, if a Deluxe Edition listing is to be believed.
Rosemary Winters may be playable in Resident Evil Requiem's DLC
Don't even ask me what that means for the timeline
As pointed out by Redditor Hot-Challenge-2755 on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, GameStop's listing for the PC Deluxe Edition of Resident Evil Requiem was recently updated to reveal more details about the game's DLC. These details claim that the game's main expansion is called “The Sanctuary”, and that it will feature Rosemary Winters as a playable character.
The list has since been updated to remove the mentions of Rose, The Sanctuary, and the Mercenaries updates, but not before everyone saw it and started sharing it. If true, it sounds like The Sanctuary will jump forward in time, as canonically Rose would be way too young during the year Resident Evil Requiem's main campaign takes place.
“The Sanctuary” Expansion Pass: Includes 2 new story scenarios and a major update to the mercenary mode. “Morphic Visor” cosmetic filter: A unique cosmetic look for Rose's visor.
Although I don't think it is for far-fetched that Requiem's expansion would let us see how Rose fares as the game seems to wrap up many stories and leave the future of the series open, many fans are incredibly unconvinced. In the Reddit thread where the leak was shared, many claim that GameStop likely just used an AI digest for the information because it seems incredible.
At the time of writing, that hasn't been confirmed yet, but it's worth bearing in mind before you believe the listing too much. For all you Leon heads out there who think Rose is replacing him, don't worry, as the description makes it sound like Rose is relegated to the alleged mercenary mode and The Sanctuary expansion.
