The Epic Games Store has officially announced Jackbox Party Pack 4 and The Darkside detective like its December 4th freebies. The former will mark the first entry in the popular series that the platform has given away in nearly seven years, with Epic Games Store users having exactly one week to claim it.
Developed by Chicago-based Jackbox Games, Jackbox Party Pack is an annual party game series that has been going strong since 2014. The first installment was featured in an Epic Games Store giveaway in January 2019, but no subsequent entries were offered for free on the platform – which is set to change soon.

Epic's digital storefront has now been revealed Jackbox Party Pack 4 as its free title for December 4th. It will be given away along with another 2017 release in the form of The Darkside Detective. The upcoming freebies were announced as soon as the Epic Games Store November 20th giveaway ended on November 27th. Jackbox Party Pack 4 and The Darkside Detective will be able to claim for seven days and ends at 8:00am PT / 11:00am ET / 5:00pm CET on December 11th.

Jackbox Party Pack 4 explained
Jackbox Party Pack 4 is one of the most beloved titles developed by Jackbox to date, as highlighted by its “Overwhelmingly Positive” Steam user reviews, based on over 1,900 player views. It features five fan favorites Jack box mini game for between 2 and 16 players. Fibbage 3 is a hoax-trivia hybrid that presents players with a bizarre fact with a missing word or phrase. They must then submit a convincingly false answer in an attempt to trick others into choosing it as truthful, while trying to find the real fact from a list of options. Conversely, Survive the Internet is a satirical game of online misinterpretation, asking players to answer innocuous questions before giving those answers to others out of context, requiring them to turn them into something ridiculous, horrible, embarrassing, or some combination thereof.

Jackbox Party Pack 4 also features Monster Seeking Monster, a secret dating game where each player takes on the role of a hidden monster with a unique power that can affect the social dynamics of the game. The game takes place over six nights, during which players exchange messages in an attempt to charm, bribe or trick others into mutual dates. Points are awarded when two players choose each other, but monster abilities complicate the process by enabling actions such as redirecting messages. Rounding out the list of TJPP4s compelling group games are Bracketeering and Civic Dooble. The former is a prediction game centered on absurd prompts and shifting rules, while the latter is a collaborative competitive drawing game framed as a city beautification initiative.
The Darkside Detective Explained
Epic Games Store's second freebie from December 4th, The Darkside Detectiveoffers something completely different. A point-and-click adventure with pixel graphics, the game casts players as a detective investigating paranormal cases in a fictional town of Twin Lakes. It also has a soundtrack of FTL and Subnautica: Below Zero composer Ben Prunty, as well as nearly 2,000 “Very Positive” user reviews on Steam.
