Why Yuji Itadori left Sorcerers, explained

This article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen series.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has done an incredible job of building the most exciting next generation of wizards and changing the world order by introducing alien races, like the Simurians, to evolve the world even more. At the core of JJK Modulo is the question of coexistence between humans and Simurians. While both sides seek coexistence, it may well turn into war if common ground cannot be reached, which is precisely why Gege Akutami has set up Yuji Itadori to return to history.

At this point in the story, Yuji Itadori is the strongest wizard in the world of Jujutsu Kaisenand he is a threat big enough to even deter Dabura, the strongest Simurianfrom invading Earth. Curiously, Yuji Itadori is nowhere to be seen. Although fans know that he is alive and that he is still very strong, his whereabouts are unknown. The implication is that Yuji Itadori left the wizards at some point in the story. But the reason behind it is simple. Yuji went his own way after the death of all his comradesand more importantly, because he is the strongest of all.

Yuji Itadori is alone because everyone else he knew is dead

It is quite clear in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo that Yuji Itadori is alive and well at the moment. Fans know that he still possesses immense power, given that he is the chosen deterrent for Japan against the King of the Simurians, Dabura, said to be a Sukuna-level threat. Still, Yuji Itadori isn't working with the wizards at the moment. Fans might wonder why that is, but the reasoning behind it is pretty simple. First of all, Yuji Itadori already served as a wizard for decades when he had to.

Let's try one more time, Sukuna. From the beginning. I will accept you. — Yuji Itadori

With his generation, he fought against all enemies and maintained peace throughout Japan. But his era is over. Yuji's friends are dead, and the fans know that Yuta Okkotsu fell, as did Maki. There's no word on Nobara Kugisaki or Megumi Fushiguro, but considering they're just normal people, they're also likely dead. Yuji has lost his team and all his friends. For him, it is quite clear that this is not his era anymore. Above all, until now, there was absolutely no need for Yuji to exist as the strongest wizard. The current era is pretty peaceful and Yuji just wasn't needed, that is until the Simurians showed up.

Yuji Itadori is the strongest, and with strength comes loneliness

The second biggest reason Yuji Itadori is alone at the moment is that he is the strongest. Gojo Satoru clearly explained to fans that with great strength comes loneliness and those who are strongest are often unaware of the true meaning of love. In other words, they are alone at the top, with no one to understand them.

The one who will teach you about love is…me! — Gojo Satoru to Sukuna

Given that Yuji Itadori is the strongest in Japan right now, and has been for quite some time, and that he's basically immortal, he has no one who understands him, and that only means that Yuji seeks solitude on his own. The only one who can end this loneliness for Yuji is Dabura, who is strong enough to understand him by fighting him with full power.

Yuji will return to fight temporarily

Everything points to The inevitable return of Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. Fans know very well that he is around and that he has not aged at all. At this point, Japan has also begun its search for Yuji Itadori. In other words, it's only a matter of time before Yuji is found and returned to the fray, in case a war against the Simurians breaks out, or if there is a need for a deterrent against them.

Jujutsu Kaisen's sequel, called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, is featured in Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 11 will be released on November 16, 2025. Fans can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus.
